The value of oil is experiencing another drop, reaching its lowest level since July of this year, directly impacting various sectors of the global economy.

In agreement with European Energy, Petrobras establishes a partnership for the production of e-methanol, demonstrating progress in the commitment to alternative and less polluting energy sources.

Price of Oil Hits Lowest Since July

The market recorded a significant reduction of approximately 5% on this day, reaching minimum levels since July. This decline was driven by investor concerns regarding global Oil demand, following the release of negative economic indicators both in the U.S. and in China.

Prices of WTI fell 4.82%, reaching US$ 73.09 per barrel, while the price of Brent dropped 4.63%, reaching US$ 77.42 per barrel. This decline is related to total Oil stocks, which remain close to 17.5 million barrels, alleviating fears of product shortages.

Additionally, U.S. industrial production decreased by 0.6% in October compared to September. On the other hand, the demand for Oil from China’s refineries also decreased, from 15.48 million barrels per day to 15.05 million barrels per day in the same period.

The company GBS has completed the acquisition of 10% of PRIO in the Manati field, located on the coast of Bahia. This transaction marks GBS’s entry into the concession, aiming for future opportunities to transform the field, at the end of its useful life, into a gas storage business.

Petrobras signed a memorandum of understanding with Danish company European Energy to evaluate opportunities related to e-methanol in Brazil. The agreement outlines the analysis of business opportunities for developing a production project for an e-methanol unit in the country.

e-methanol is a form of energy produced by combining green hydrogen, obtained from renewable sources such as solar and wind energy, with biogenic carbon dioxide.

It is important to emphasize that Oil should not be seen as the sole responsible for environmental impact. Oil and gas companies can play a crucial role in the transition to a low-carbon economy, and demonizing them does not help in reducing global emissions.

Investments In New Energy Solutions

The businessman highlighted the importance of seeking alternatives beyond wind and solar energy and electric vehicles, and mentioned Exxon’s investment of US$ 17 billion in technologies such as carbon capture, hydrogen, biofuel, and lithium.

He emphasized that the transition to new forms of energy cannot be done abruptly, considering that the current energy system has been built over 150 years. The focus, according to him, is not on Oil and gas, but rather on the emissions generated by these sources.
