From January to August 2025, State Reaches R$ 4.09 Billion in Exports, Takes 5th Place in the Northeast, and Expands Global Partnerships.
The Secretary of Finance of Piauí, Emílio Júnior, emphasized this Thursday (25) the State’s results in foreign trade during the presentation of Public Policy Results, held at the auditorium of the State Court of Accounts (TCE). The event marked an accountability moment to society, highlighting advances in fiscal management, transparency, revenues, and exports.
Exports on the Rise
According to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services (MDIC), referring to the period from January to August 2025, Piauí ranks 5th in the export rankings of the Northeast. The State has also established itself as the largest exporter of natural honey in Brazil.
China appears as Piauí’s main trading partner, representing 66.54% of external sales. During the analyzed period, this percentage corresponded to US$ 511.21 million, about R$ 2.72 billion.

The most exported product was soybeans, accounting for 81.5% of Piauí’s exports. The grain generated US$ 626 million, approximately R$ 3.33 billion, between January and August.
Trade Balance and Strategies
In the Trade Balance, Piauí reached 18th place in the national export ranking, totaling US$ 768.32 million (R$ 4.09 billion). Imports, in the same period, reached US$ 245.70 million, about R$ 1.30 billion. The data were collected by the Economic-Fiscal Studies Advisory of Sefaz-PI (ASSEEF).
During the presentation, the secretary highlighted the impacts of international missions led by Governor Rafael Fonteles. According to him, the State has been strengthening strategic partnerships, expanding the pool of buyers, and attracting new investments. These initiatives, he noted, are essential to boosting job creation, GDP growth, and the development of Piauí.
