VR Energia and ASTEL Club Save with Cleaner Energy Solutions, Reducing 545 Tons of CO2 in 10 Years, Highlighting Sustainability.
The current world demands a collective commitment to sustainability. Environmental responsibility has become vital for companies and individuals seeking a harmonious coexistence with the environment. Adopting sustainable practices is not just a necessity but also an opportunity to shape a greener future for all. Experiencing transformation requires society to have a vigorous environmental consciousness, essential to mitigate the effects of climate change. In 2023, more than 200 million tons of CO₂ were neutralized thanks to the efforts of companies and individuals prioritizing sustainable development.
Sustainability is intrinsically linked to innovations in the energy sector. Addressing the rampant consumption of natural resources is the goal of many recent projects. The transition to a free energy market, for example, has driven both the economy and the reduction of environmental impact. Leading companies like VR Energia and ASTEL Club have achieved significant milestones. According to data revealed in October of this year, the partnership between these entities resulted in savings of over 545 tons of CO₂ over the last decade, demonstrating how investing in cleaner energy solutions can be equally beneficial for the environment and businesses.
Sustainability: A New Energy and Business Era
Since 2020, the free energy market and encouraging policies have been fundamental in establishing sustainable practices in the industrial and commercial sectors. Not only are savings generated, but there is also a significant increase in investor confidence in businesses prioritizing environmental responsibility. Based in Florianópolis, VR Energia Sustentável has already avoided the emission of 11,000 tons of CO₂, illustrating the real potential of concrete actions in sustainability. This example resonates across the country, creating a movement of national transformation.

The need for environmental consciousness has never been more essential. Information from the International Energy Agency for 2023 highlights that 30% of the world’s population is already participating in energy efficiency programs and waste reduction practices. These collective actions become even more significant when companies of all sizes directly adopt practices that benefit not only their bottom lines but also society at large. Incorporating these measures symbolizes, above all, a constant commitment to future generations.
Sustainability: Challenge and Opportunity in the Energy Market
Brazil, May 13, 2025 – The challenge of balancing economy and sustainability has driven a growing number of companies to migrate to the free energy market, supported by VR Energia Sustentável, located in Florianópolis/SC. This movement aims to integrate sustainable practices into businesses to foster environmental responsibility. In the South Region, more than 180 companies joined this initiative, 80% of which are from Santa Catarina. VR Energia has stood out in offering cleaner and more economical energy solutions, reducing the negative effects of CO2 emissions in business practices.
In April 2025, ASTEL Club, the respected Sports and Social Association of Florianópolis, decided to adopt this sustainable vision. Through a decade-long contract with VR Energia, the club will save significantly on its energy bill by opting for renewable sources. This will prevent the emission of more than 545 tons of CO2 per year, demonstrating commitment to environmental awareness. Located in the Itacorubi neighborhood, near the State University of Santa Catarina, ASTEL Club offers an attractive infrastructure for both members and non-members.
The Quest for Sustainability in Sports Infrastructures
With activities such as Beach Tennis, barbecues, Swiss Football, gyms, and saunas, the club not only dedicates itself to the well-being and health of its members but also adopts sustainable practices, reflecting emerging trends in Brazil. The migration to the free energy market represents a significant evolution for ASTEL Club, which not only provides savings but also establishes itself as a model of environmental responsibility in the community. This transition not only benefits the environment but also strengthens the club’s image as a persistent advocate for sustainability.
Viviane Rosa, CEO of VR Energia, praises this collaboration by stating: ‘We are excited about the partnership with ASTEL Club, which becomes an inspiring example for other institutions. The migration to the free market will not only result in savings but also reaffirm our commitment to a more sustainable future. Each decision to adopt renewable sources is a significant step toward environmental protection. We hope this change encourages more clubs and companies to follow this path’. This movement reflects the growing interest in practices that benefit both finances and the environment.
Positive Impact of Sustainability in the Free Market
In 2024, Santa Catarina stood out nationally, ranking among the top ten states in migrations to the free market, demonstrating that environmental awareness is becoming a priority among local businesses. Viviane Rosa emphasizes that sustainability must go hand in hand with the economy. ‘We look forward to seeing the positive impact this decision will bring to ASTEL Club and the entire community’, concludes Viviane.
Additionally, VR Energia celebrated, in the same month of April, savings of R$ 30 million for the 180 companies that migrated to the free market, contributing to avoiding the emission of approximately 11,000 tons of CO2. ‘The transition to the free market offers various advantages: up to 30% reduction in costs and flexibility to customize contracts, choosing energy sources that promote sustainability’, explains Viviane.
Green Strategy: Commitment to Clean Solutions
‘Our customers, ranging from condominiums to large industries, excite us with the results we have already achieved, and we expect to double our customer base in the next 12 months,’ adds Viviane. She highlights that the reduction of 11,000 tons of CO₂ signals significant progress in her ESG strategy, especially in the pillars of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
For the companies served by VR Energia in the Free Energy Market, this achievement reaffirms the commitment to transitioning to cleaner and renewable sources. This not only helps reduce the carbon footprint but also enhances the reputation of companies with consumers, investors, and other stakeholders, ensuring that sustainable practices become an essential pillar in the current corporate landscape.
