Guaratuba Bridge Works Advance With Investment of R$ 386.9 Million to Improve Mobility on the Paraná Coast
The construction of the Guaratuba Bridge, one of the most anticipated projects in Paraná, has reached 44.2% completion, according to data from the Paraná Department of Highways (DER/PR). The expected completion date remains set for 2026, providing a new alternative for transportation between Guaratuba and Matinhos, regions that currently depend on the ferry boat for crossings. This new structure is part of investments in highways and infrastructure in Paraná.
Structure and Details of the Guaratuba Bridge
The Guaratuba Bridge project includes a structure of 1,244 meters in length, equipped with:
- Four traffic lanes (two in each direction);
- Safety lanes;
- Bicycle lane and sidewalks;
- Guardrails and rigid concrete barriers;
- A navigation channel 17 meters high and 90 meters wide.
The total infrastructure of the roadway complex will be 1,826 meters, including 951 meters of accesses from the Guaratuba side and 875 meters from the Matinhos side. In addition to the main bridge, the project includes the restructuring of local roads and a connection to Cabaraquara Road, facilitating traffic in the region and boosting urban mobility on the coast of Paraná.

Investment and Execution
The Government of Paraná invested R$ 386.9 million in the construction of the Guaratuba Bridge, which is under the responsibility of the Nova Ponte Consortium, formed by the construction companies OEC, Carioca, and Goetze Lobato. Oversight and monitoring of the work are conducted by DER/PR, linked to the State Department of Infrastructure and Logistics.
According to DER/PR, 40 of the 64 piles planned have been completed, including 16 in the stay cable section and 24 in the pre-cast section. The structural advancement also involved the installation of crown blocks, pillars, and pre-cast beams. This progress places the project among the largest investments in infrastructure in Paraná.

The construction of the Guaratuba Bridge will eliminate the need for the ferry boat, which currently transports about 3,000 vehicles per day during the peak season.
