The Progress of Construction and the Expected Completion Date
According to data released this Friday (10) by the Paraná Department of Highways (DER/PR), the construction of the Guaratuba Bridge has reached 35.3% completion.
The milestone was confirmed after an inspection at the construction site conducted by the Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, Sandro Alex, accompanied by engineers and the CEO of DER/PR, Fernando Furiatti.
According to the schedule, the delivery is expected in April 2026, with the expectation that the next summer season will be the last relying on the ferry boat.
“We are ahead of schedule and committed to delivering this definitive solution,” highlighted Sandro Alex during the inspection.
The contract, which has a total investment of R$ 386.9 million, has already represented a financial contribution of R$ 136.6 million so far.
For Sandro Alex, the rapid execution and adherence to the timeline demonstrate the state government’s commitment to modernizing infrastructure and improving the quality of life for local residents.

Structure Details
With a span of 1,244 meters, the Guaratuba Bridge will feature four traffic lanes, two safety lanes, rigid concrete barriers, and sidewalks with bike lanes and guardrails.
This configuration meets modern safety and functionality standards, prioritizing both motorists and pedestrians and cyclists.
Additionally, the project includes three additional kilometers of associated infrastructure, which encompass improvements to access roads in the cities of Guaratuba and Matinhos.
According to DER/PR, 34 of the 64 planned piles have been completed, as well as the fabrication of 52 precast girders, of which 15 have already been installed.
Economic and Social Benefits
The construction of the bridge is seen as a milestone not only for its logistical importance but also for the social and economic impacts it will bring.
The project is already generating direct and indirect jobs, stimulating the local economy.
Furthermore, the elimination of the ferry boat will lead to greater traffic flow between cities, reducing congestion and increasing efficiency in the transportation of goods and passengers.
Fernando Furiatti, CEO of DER/PR, emphasized the importance of the project in the state context.
“This is an achievement for Paraná. Staying on schedule, considering logistical and environmental challenges, is a significant milestone.”
Environmental Concerns and Measures Adopted
From the beginning, the project has integrated practices to minimize environmental impact.
On the Matinhos side, for example, controlled removals of vegetation and management of local fauna have been carried out in accordance with legal requirements.
On the Guaratuba side, techniques such as soil nailing have been used to ensure the stability of areas like Morro de Caieiras.
According to DER/PR engineer Larissa Vieira, all stages follow rigorous safety and quality standards.
“The significant progress we have made so far reflects the commitment of the entire team and the effort of the State Government to deliver this long-awaited project for the population.”

Impacts on Mobility
Currently, traffic in the areas surrounding the construction has been adjusted to facilitate the continuation of work and minimize disruptions for residents and visitors.
In Guaratuba, Avenida Antônio dos Santos Miranda is operating with two lanes in one direction.
In Matinhos, adjustments have been made on Avenida Marechal Hermes to ensure smooth traffic flow during the construction.
These temporary changes are part of an integrated plan to ensure that the impact on mobility is minimized while the bridge is completed.
Conclusion and Expectations
The Guaratuba Bridge is not just an engineering project, but a symbol of progress and modernity for the coast of Paraná.
With completion expected in April 2026, the hope is that it will revolutionize regional logistics, boost tourism, and bring greater quality of life to local populations.
With 35% of the schedule already completed, the promise of eliminating the ferry boat and providing a quick and safe crossing is becoming increasingly real.
The community and merchants are eagerly awaiting the completion of this transformative project.
