Oil Transportation By Petrobras Through The Açu Port
To meet the demand for oil exports, Açu Petróleo also plans the construction of a Storage Park and pipeline connection to the existing network at the site. This is the second time that Petrobras has requested to increase the exported volume of oil through the Açu Port, motivated by the growing oil production and to meet external market demand.
Until then, the contract between the management of Açu Port and Petrobras provided for the export of 100 million barrels of oil. However, during the pandemic, in April 2020, the state company set a record for movement and informed Açu Petróleo, which was responsible for the transportation of about 19% of the total volume.

Victor Snabaitis Bomfim, CEO of Açu Petróleo, stated that this new contract between the company and Petrobras ensures the demand for oil exports. He also emphasizes that the company is the main structured solution for oil movement in the country, with a private terminal and the advantage of sheltered transshipment. The CEO of Açu Petróleo further states that the renewal of the contract demonstrates the market’s confidence in the company’s operations.
Açu Port Was Recognized By Antaq
Açu Petróleo was recently recognized by Antaq – National Agency of Waterway Transportation, through the 2020 Statistical Yearbook, as the Liquid Bulk Terminal That Grew The Most In Movement. Just last year, 29.6 million tons were handled, which represents a growth of 53.2% compared to 2019.
The company, which is responsible for 25% of the oil exported from Brazil, already serves all operators (such as Petrobras) operating in the country and has increasingly shown continuous and stable growth in its contracts. Since 2016, Açu Petróleo has conducted more than 270 oil transshipment operations, which represents about 260 million barrels moved.
