Economist and Professor Paul Krugman, Winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2008, Has Been Confirmed as a Speaker at the 38th FIDES RIO 2023 Hemispheric Insurance Conference.
The FIDES RIO 2023 will take place from September 24 to 26, 2023, in Rio de Janeiro and will feature participants from the private insurance sector from the United States, Spain, and 20 countries in Latin America.
Krugman is one of the founders of the “new trade theory” and received the John Bates Clark Medal from the American Economic Association for his contribution. He was also named by Bloomberg as one of the 50 most influential people in global finance in 2011.
Currently, the professor is a columnist for the New York Times, where he discusses the main issues affecting the current global economy. He is also the author or editor of 20 books and over 200 articles in professional journals and edited volumes. His most recent book is titled “Arguing with Zombies: Economics, Politics, and the Fight for a Better Future.”

Krugman is Emeritus Professor of Economics at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY), a faculty member of the Stone Center on Socio-Economic Inequality and the Luxembourg Income Study (LIS). His current academic research focuses on economic and monetary crises.
FIDES RIO 2023
The Inter-American Federation of Insurance Companies (FIDES) announced the holding of the Hemispheric Insurance Conference – FIDES Rio 2023. The meeting, which will occur every two years, will feature global business leaders, executives, opinion makers, and authorities to discuss the trends and transformations in the insurance sector. Thus, participants will have the opportunity to explore a broad agenda of business and sports activities.
FIDES is a non-profit organization that brings together private insurance associations from twenty member countries, including CNSEG from Brazil. The Hemispheric Insurance Conference – FIDES Rio 2023 promises to be an innovative platform for all involved in the insurance industry in the Americas and the Iberian Peninsula.
