The Manufacturer From Los Angeles, California Claims That The First Flying Motorcycle Is Gasoline-Powered And Will Be Capable Of Traveling At Speeds Of Up To 240 Kilometers Per Hour
People living in urban centers or their outskirts are always at risk of having their lives interrupted by the scourge of traffic congestion. Over the past few years, companies around the world have created a flood of new solutions in an effort to circumvent the problem. The use of flying vehicles to explore the skies is an option inspired by science fiction movies.
As prototypes become increasingly sophisticated, there is not much work left until the first models are launched on the market. One manufacturer, in fact, is planning to launch a flying motorcycle later this year in 2023.
Although they are not yet available for public use, the concept began to gain traction in 2019, when the American company Jetpack Aviation started the pre-sale of its first flying motorcycle model in the United States, named “The Speeder”.

Those who believe that the concept will never become a reality should know that a manufacturer from Los Angeles, California, claims that the company’s first flying motorcycle will be ready by the end of this year and will be capable of traveling at speeds of up to 149 miles per hour (240 kilometers per hour).
Since it runs on gasoline, the first official version will not be the most environmentally friendly option. However, the vehicle that has the potential to reach an altitude of 15,000 feet and remain airborne for a period of thirty minutes will not be offered on a large scale.
In any case, the price of the first flying motorcycle to be marketed in the world starts at a price of US$ 380,000. At the current exchange rate, this amounts to over R$ 2 million, and this does not take into account any applicable taxes. The availability of the product in other countries has not yet been disclosed by the manufacturer.
To Ride The First Flying Motorcycle, Is It Necessary To Have A License?
At this moment, this is still an area that raises some questions. Currently, a pilot’s license is not required to operate a flying motorcycle. The companies themselves have stated that they would provide training to anyone interested. However, it is still necessary to wait for the regulations from the monitoring agencies of each country.
When the sales of such flying motorcycles “take off” in the future, governments will be forced to change the existing traffic rules to accommodate this new category of motorized vehicle, and likely, a type of mandatory license for use will be implemented.
It is worth noting that the trend is for electric motors to be used for the propulsion of flying motorcycles in the not-too-distant future. They are similar to eVTOLs, as they are small and lightweight, and can take off and land vertically.
Lower-powered variants will be designed for use by amateurs, while higher-powered versions will be suitable for use in commercial environments, such as parcel delivery and passenger transportation, for example.
One of the most prominent companies working on the development of the flying motorcycle idea is American Jetpack Aviation. The original business plan was to launch flying vehicles for use in military and rescue operations. However, in response to the growing demand from the general public, the manufacturer decided to build models that could be purchased by anyone.
The Japanese company A.L.I. A Technologies is also closely following this trend and has already shown details of a project similar to that of the American company. The manufacturer claims that its flying motorcycle has a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour and can fly for a total of forty minutes. However, the pre-sale price is considerably higher than that quoted by the American company: US$ 680,000, which is equivalent to more than R$ 3.5 million.
