Pickup trucks are a huge global success due to their versatility and work capacity. In Brazil, this segment has gained even more attention in recent years. In the United States, large models are extremely popular, while there are also nostalgic fans of smaller pickups, like the El Camino, which inspired the project by Impatient Creations. Now, a new pickup based on the Camaro (Chevrolet Camaro – L pickup) is catching attention online. Discover all the details of this innovation that is shaking up the automotive market.
Chevrolet Camaro Is Turned Into Pickup After Old Inspiration
Called L Camaro, the model draws inspiration from 1960s pickups and vehicles sold in Oceania. Especially in Australia, compact pickups were quite strong until around 2010, with Holden, the local subsidiary of Chevrolet, offering high-powered models and even the Camaro’s V8 engine.
The Hold Maloo was based on the Commodore sedan and featured only the front part of the cabin, with the rear adapted to accommodate the bed.

Building on this idea, Impatient Creations developed its own Camaro pickup. The work was done with the idea of creating a model very similar to what the brand would have used during the period the Chevrolet Camaro was produced, so much so that the pickup features lines similar to the sporty model at the rear, except for the taillight.
According to the project’s creators, the idea was to maintain a connection with the other pickups from GM, since the original taillights of the Camaro would hardly be used on a utility vehicle.
The Camaro Pickup Delivers 432 HP of Power
The bed’s manufacturing phase took about a year, and the model was commissioned by a customer who already owns other cars modified by the company. The bed features two hooks that serve to secure the support of the lid when the piece is closed. The rear features stickers of two stripes that connect the hood of the Chevrolet Camaro pickup.

The wheels are original, and the Camaro pickup was entirely painted in Chevrolet’s original silver. Inside, everything works as if it were original, and according to the developers, this part posed a challenge, given that the Camaro features curtain airbags, for example. Under the hood is the traditional V8 LS3 6.2 engine that delivers 432 hp of power.
The traction remains rear and is delivered thanks to the six-speed manual transmission. After appearances at some events, the Camaro pickup, which is named L Camaro, a direct reference to El Camino, is now in the possession of the owner, who, according to Impatient Creations, uses it as a real pickup.
How the Chevrolet Camaro Was Transformed Into a Pickup?
The initial designs were created, showing how the car would look, called “sketches,” and then the rear was cut and lengthened to accommodate the bed, with vertical taillights. The rear fenders were developed to mimic the Camaro’s original lines.
The rear would have been more interesting if it had been truer to the initial sketches, but in practice, it ended up being too long and straight. The interior was slightly altered, with a cargo shelf placed in place of the rear seats.
Focusing a bit on history, the first generation of the Chevrolet Camaro was sold between 1967 and 1969 and participated in the Indy 500 twice. There were two versions with different engines: some had a 6.5-liter V8 with 202 horsepower. There was also the incredible COPO version, which featured a large 7.0-liter block delivering 430 and 435 hp.
