Compagas Is Finalizing Its Privatization Cycle and Will Further Expand, Causing Natural Gas Prices to Decrease in Paraná

Compagas is preparing for a privatization process while reaching the final stage of a successful natural gas distribution concession cycle in Paraná. For Compagas, 2021 is a decisive year for its history and for the new era of natural gas participation in Paraná’s energy matrix. The company in Paraná expanded its natural gas network by about 842 km, ensuring investment attraction to Paraná, as well as competitiveness for products that relied on this cheaper and more sustainable type of energy.

Compagas and Its End of Cycle in Paraná

According to Rafael Lamastra Jr, CEO of Compagas, the company is finalizing a privatization cycle, and the Government signals with the renewal of the concession as provided by law. As a way to support and stimulate the development of industries in other regions, it is seen as inevitable that one of the established goals in this new arrangement will be the interiorization of the natural gas network.

The company’s network, which is in privatization, reaches up to Castro and has witnessed the strategic importance that the availability of natural gas is playing in the growth of industries, for example, those in Ponta Grossa. Thus, it makes complete sense, in a strategic government plan, to extend Compagas’s natural gas network further into the interior of the State.

Company Goals After Privatization

This year, the company plans to invest R$ 18.7 million, and by 2024, the resources may reach R$ 47.5 million, which will be applied to the expansion of the piped natural gas distribution network, diversifying service in its operating area across residential, commercial, industrial, and vehicular segments.

During this same period, the company aims to expand the distribution network by 3.5%. Furthermore, it has been strategically working to raise its customer base and reach the mark of 58,000 consumers in the state by 2024.
