The production of cassava in Paraná enters a decisive moment with the expectation of a harvest estimated at 4.2 million tons for 2025, according to projections from Deral of the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Supply, according to an article published.

This forecast adds to the beginning of the International Cassava Fair (Fiman), held from November 25 to 27 in Paranavaí, bringing together industries, suppliers, research centers, and professionals from different regions.

The meeting takes place at the Costa e Silva International Exhibition Park and reinforces the role of the State as a national reference in the activity.

Visitors will find innovations in research, machinery, and processes focused on quality, as well as business opportunities that align with the demands of markets requiring high standards.

The program also highlights Paraná’s performance in starch, a segment that accounts for about two-thirds of national supply and places the region in a significant position among the largest producers in the country.

With the presence of representatives from 25 states and over 20 countries, the event demonstrates the strength of this culture in the local economy.

Sustainable Cultivation Management Appears At The Center Of Debates

The fair delves into topics related to sustainable cultivation management, connecting agricultural practices to the needs of producers seeking efficient processes suitable for the Paraná soil.

The focus returns to cassava production in Paraná, which serves as a basis for the advancement of technologies aimed at the responsible use of resources.

The state secretary of Agriculture and Supply, Marcio Nunes, states that the event reinforces the commitment to responsibility and forward vision by presenting solutions that reach the field through partnerships between public agencies, research institutions, and the private sector.

He emphasizes that the State, with its 12 million inhabitants, provides food for 400 million people in various countries.

The Fiman demonstrates how sustainable practices gain space in an environment that grows at a steady pace, supported by technical knowledge and tools that facilitate the daily work of small and large producers.

Innovation In Processing Guides New Investments In The Sector

Innovation in processing takes center stage at Fiman, especially with the presence of companies involved in the industrialization and development of specific equipment for the root.

The production of cassava in Paraná is again cited to explain how the State occupies a leadership position in starch.

According to agronomist engineer Hugo Godinho from Deral, more than half of the cassava harvested in Paraná goes for this purpose, making the region responsible for two-thirds of the national supply.

In 2024, Cepea recorded 834 thousand tons of starch produced in Brazil, highlighting the weight of the sector.

Godinho also recalls that the State ranks second only to Pará in total root volume, with 4.2 million tons compared to 4.3 million.

This information drives industries’ interest in expanding investments, considering the growth potential pointed for the 2025 harvest and the increase in demand for derived products.

International Opportunities Expand The Reach Of Industrial Starch

International opportunities expand the reach of industrial starch and reinforce the interest of foreign visitors at Fiman.

The production of cassava in Paraná is once again mentioned as the basis for the commercial expansion attracting more than 60 exhibitors and thousands of participants.

Paranavaí, recognized as the “Capital Of Industrial Cassava Cultivation”, receives representatives from 25 states and delegations from over 20 countries.

In 2023, the event generated around R$ 250 million and gathered seven thousand people, figures that increase expectations for the current edition.

The interactions promoted between companies, researchers, and buyers help create partnerships and bring the sector closer to markets that value quality, traceability, and regularity in supply.

These relationships strengthen Brazil’s presence in global chains and expand business prospects for the coming years, keeping cassava production in Paraná as an essential element of regional development.
