Young Apprentice Program: How It Works?
With the aim of developing professional skills, young apprentices undertake activities in private or public companies to gain entrepreneurial experience and enhance their knowledge of the job market. Generally, early childhood teachers are over eighteen years old, while kindergarten teachers are between fourteen and eighteen years old.
The learning of minors and young people is regulated by the Apprenticeship Law (Law 10.097/2000), which provides for the hiring of young people aged 14 to 24 as apprentices in medium and large companies. The contracts for young apprentices last an average of 2 years and are registered in the Professional Work Certificate (CTPS) and discussed in the CLT decision. However, the duration of each position may depend on certain circumstances, such as the age of the young apprentice.
In addition, the contracts for young apprentices are not renewed or extended and, therefore, expire after the established period when young apprentices begin work. Upon completion of the contract, the young apprentice will be entitled to salaries, prorated payments, and the 13th salary.
