According to the environmental manager of the Teles Pires Hydroelectric Plant, Mr. Ivan Sobreira Neto, “The delivery of the Community Center successfully concludes the project and represents the completion of a work through which the cooperative will promote the technical training of settlers, for sustainable development and environmental conservation through family farming. This will contribute to the anchoring of the population in the settlement and the consequent reduction of rural exodus, strengthening local production.”
The settlement accommodates about 62% of the rural population residing in the municipality of Paranaíta – around 775 families. In addition to the delivery of the community center, the project also included organizing the area, with the land reordering of the settlement, and maintaining access roads for transportation and production flow.
Furthermore, according to the environmental manager of the Teles Pires Hydroelectric Plant, integrated economic and sustainable development is expected from the use of existing natural resources. This will contribute to improving the quality of life and help satisfy families in staying in the region, producing on their properties, consolidating their productive capacity and providing a permanent source of income.
