The Teles Pires Hydroelectric Plant Project, an initiative of Neoenergia and BNDES, will be completed with the donation of the Community Center, where technical training will be held to promote family farming by the Cooperative and the creation of a leisure space with music and dance workshops.

The revitalization project of the São Pedro Settlement, an initiative carried out by the Teles Pires Hydroelectric Plant (UHE) – controlled by Neoenergia – in partnership with the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), in the São Pedro Settlement, located in Paranaíta (MT), has benefited more than 4,000 residents in the region.

This initiative aims to contribute to the economic and social development of the community of the Mixed Cooperative of Farmers and São Pedro Settlement.

Among the actions of the revitalization project, the delivery of the Community Center stands out, which includes spaces capable of hosting meetings and training courses, as well as being a leisure area with music and dance workshops.

According to the environmental manager of the Teles Pires Hydroelectric Plant, Mr. Ivan Sobreira Neto, “The delivery of the Community Center successfully concludes the project and represents the completion of a work through which the cooperative will promote the technical training of settlers, for sustainable development and environmental conservation through family farming. This will contribute to the anchoring of the population in the settlement and the consequent reduction of rural exodus, strengthening local production.”

The settlement accommodates about 62% of the rural population residing in the municipality of Paranaíta – around 775 families. In addition to the delivery of the community center, the project also included organizing the area, with the land reordering of the settlement, and maintaining access roads for transportation and production flow.

Furthermore, according to the environmental manager of the Teles Pires Hydroelectric Plant, integrated economic and sustainable development is expected from the use of existing natural resources. This will contribute to improving the quality of life and help satisfy families in staying in the region, producing on their properties, consolidating their productive capacity and providing a permanent source of income.
