The Teles Pires Hydroelectric Power Plant project, an initiative by Neoenergia and BNDES, will be completed with the donation of the Community Center, where technical training will be carried out to promote family farming by the Cooperative and the creation of a leisure space with music and dance workshops.
The revitalization project for the São Pedro Settlement, an initiative carried out by the Teles Pires Hydroelectric Power Plant (UHE) – controlled by Neoenergia – in partnership with the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), in the São Pedro Settlement, located in Paranaíta (MT) , benefited more than 4 inhabitants in the region.
This initiative aims to contribute to the economic and social development of the community of the Mixed Farmers Cooperative and São Pedro Settlement.
Among the actions of the revitalization project, the delivery of the Community Center stands out, which includes environments capable of hosting meetings and training courses, in addition to being a leisure space with music and dance workshops.

According to the environmental manager of the Teles Pires Hydroelectric Power Plant, Mr. Ivan Sobreira Neto, “The delivery of the Community Center completes the project with great success and represents the conclusion of a work through which the cooperative will promote the technical training of the settlers, to sustainable development and environmental conservation through family farming. With this, it will be possible to contribute to the settlement of the population in the settlement and the consequent decrease in the rural exodus, strengthening local production”.
The settlement is home to around 62% of the rural population residing in the municipality of Paranaíta – around 775 families. In addition to the delivery of the community center, the project also included the organization of the site, with the land reorganization of the settlement, and the maintenance of access roads for displacement and disposal of production.
Also according to the environmental manager of the Teles Pires Hydroelectric Power Plant, integrated economic and sustainable development is foreseen from the use of existing natural resources. This will contribute to an improvement in the quality of life and contribute to the families' satisfaction in remaining in the region, producing on their properties, consolidating their productive capacity and permanent source of income.
