The free and online course (EAD) of professional qualification with certificate, offered by PUC, will identify talents for vacancies in the internship program of the automaker Volvo

The Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR) and the giant Volvo teamed up to promote a free online course (EAD) of professional qualification with an Application Development certificate. The objective of the program, which lasts approximately one month, with mentoring and training activities, is to identify young talents in the area of ​​Information Technology (IT), who will have the opportunity to compete for vacancies in the automaker's internship program , working in person in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba (RMC).

The program will consist of live online meetings, that is, synchronous remote meetings. Classes will be taught by professors from PUCPR with market experience, who will use the methodology Challenge-Based Learning (Learning Based on Challenges, in Portuguese), in which the student is invited to solve real-world challenges in order to expand knowledge. In the course, such challenges will be focused mainly on the codification of .

“This is a unique opportunity to enter the job market, as the program has a strong emphasis on generating internship opportunities. The final objective of the course is to prepare students for the beginning of their professional life in the area of ​​software development for the Volvo Group, one of the largest vehicle manufacturers in the world”, comments Vilmar Abreu, professor at the Polytechnic School of PUCPR.

The program is open to academics from any higher education institution with prior knowledge in systems development and enrolled in courses such as:

• Computer Science
• Computer engineering
• Control and Automation Engineering
• Mechatronics Engineering
• Information systems
• Digital games
• Cybersecurity, among others.

Volvo's internship program looks for people with knowledge of programming logic and databases, interest in learning and developing in .NET and SQL and other technologies, good communication in English and Portuguese and ease in working in teams.

The program will be divided into three modules: Module 1 – Programming in C# (20 hours); Module 2 – SQL Server (20 hours); and Module 3 – Hands-On Project (12 hours). Classes will begin in the second week of January and are expected to end in the first week of February, taking place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 18:30 pm to 22:30 pm. Also, during the weeks, students must carry out extracurricular activities requested by the teachers.

On the 16th of the same month, there will be a live on the Microsoft Teams platform to answer questions from interested parties. A preliminary test will be held on November 25th and a programming test on the 29th, both online.

Candidates who pass the test will still undergo a remote interview that assesses the hard skills e soft skills of the candidates. The final list of those approved for the training will be released on December 10th. More information is available, in the notice.
