Who Can Apply and What the Program Offers
The master’s program is geared towards graduates interested in working in the preservation, management, and dissemination of cultural heritage related to the fields of science and health.
According to the announcement, students who are still completing their undergraduate studies can apply.
If approved, they must present a completion certificate at the time of enrollment.
The program aims to train professionals capable of developing, planning, and executing integrated and preventive management actions for heritage, articulating collection conservation, access to information, and heritage education.
The duration varies from 12 to 24 months, with workload distributed among disciplines and a final project.
Research Lines: Necessary Choice at Enrollment
At the time of application, candidates must indicate one of the two research lines.
The first, Cultural Heritage: History, Memory & Society, focuses on the relationship between memory, material and immaterial culture, and its institutional mediations.
The second, Cultural Heritage: Preservation and Management, prioritizes studies and products aimed at the management of collections and safeguarding processes.
The choice guides the pre-project and future academic orientation.
Affirmative Actions and Distribution of Spots
The announcement reserves spots for people with disabilities, Black (African descendants), and Indigenous people, in addition to residents of the Maré or Manguinhos territories in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
The reservations follow percentages defined by institutional policy and are contested in parallel with open competition, respecting the order of classification.
If there are not enough candidates in any group, the remaining spots will migrate to the open competition.
Selection Stages and Minimum Scores
The selection process occurs entirely online and includes three mandatory phases.
First, the document analysis verifies whether all files were submitted correctly.
Next, there is the written assessment, which considers the letter of intent, pre-project, and resume.
To advance, it is necessary to obtain a score equal to or higher than 7.0.
Finally, the contextualized interview also requires a minimum score of 7.0 and addresses the pre-project and the bibliography indicated in the announcement.
The final score of the candidate must be equal to or higher than 7.0 for approval and classification within the number of spots.
Calendar: Deadlines and Results
After the application period, the validation of applications and the release of partial results occur on the SIEF platform and the program’s website, according to the official schedule.
The remote interviews are scheduled for December 2 and 3.
The final result of the selection process is scheduled for December 11, 2025.
Any appeals must be submitted on the indicated dates, also through the platform.
Institutional Scholarships and Criteria
The Casa de Oswaldo Cruz offers four institutional scholarships for the 2026 class, with a reference value set by CAPES and a validity of up to 24 months, subject to budget availability.
The selection of scholarship holders occurs at the end of the selection process, prioritizing candidates without employment ties or regular sources of income, in addition to performance in the exam and availability to fulfill course activities.
Where and When Classes Are Held
The academic activities will generally be held at the Fiocruz campus in Manguinhos (RJ).
Classes are expected to be primarily on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 am to 5 pm, with possible activities at additional times and locations, depending on the training needs.
What to Prepare to Increase Your Chances
A competitive application requires a clear and viable pre-project, aligned with the chosen research line, and a letter of intent that outlines the candidate’s background, motivations, and availability for the course.
The coherence of the resume with the field, including education, experiences, courses, technical production, and participation in events, also weighs in the evaluation.
In the interview, in addition to mastery of their own project, the candidate should demonstrate familiarity with the bibliography indicated in the announcement.
How to Register for the SIEF
Applications are made exclusively online through the Integrated Teaching System Fiocruz (SIEF). Candidates need to create an account on the platform, complete the form, and attach the required documentation.
Among the mandatory files are the letter of intent, Lattes model resume, research pre-project aligned with the chosen line, copy of the diploma or completion certificate, and identity document and CPF.
Only complete applications, submitted by 11:59 PM on the last day of the deadline, will be validated.
Those who intend to compete for one of the 18 spots need to gather the documentation, adjust the pre-project to the scope of the PPGPAT, and submit the application through SIEF by October 31, 2025.
Daily monitoring of the system and the program’s website is recommended to avoid missing deadlines and announcements.
