BYD Starts Recruitment for Electric Car Factory in Camaçari, Promising Hundreds of Direct Jobs and Impacting the Local Labor Market. The Selection Process Has Already Begun and Covers Professionals of Different Profiles.

BYD, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has initiated a broad recruitment process for the new factory located in Camaçari, Bahia, in the area where Ford’s plant used to operate.

The initiative aims to hire hundreds of professionals for different roles, with a focus on the production of the Dolphin Mini, the brand’s electric vehicle that will be assembled in Brazil.

The selection process was expedited through a drive organized in partnership with the Worker Mediation and Support Center (CIAT) and SineBahia, which took place in the last week of July.

The in-person event occurred at the Casa do Trabalho in the municipality of Camaçari, aimed at facilitating candidates’ access to the available positions at the automaker’s manufacturing unit.

During the sessions, approximately 850 people participated in interviews and guidance conducted by BYD’s Human Resources teams.

Candidates received detailed information about the available positions, requirements for each role, and the next steps in the selection process, as well as clarifications about the factory’s structure and operations.

Open Positions for Dolphin Mini Production

According to official data, BYD’s factory in Camaçari already offers 508 direct job vacancies on platforms like SineBahia and CIAT, out of a total of 3,000 positions announced for the unit.

The expectation from the company and the state government is that the plant will generate up to 20,000 direct and indirect jobs when it reaches full operation.

Currently, around 1,000 workers are already hired for various areas.

According to BYD, the goal is to expand the workforce in different sectors, including production, logistics, maintenance, technical, and administrative areas.

The positions cater to candidates of diverse profiles, with opportunities for professionals with or without previous experience, as well as people over 40 years old, a group often impacted by the difficulty of reintegration into the job market.

Interested candidates should register their updated resumes on SineBahia or CIAT platforms.

It is necessary to present documents such as identification, proof of residence, physical or digital work card, and certificates of vocational courses when required.

The recommendation is to keep an eye on official communications from BYD and workforce mediation agencies for future calls.

Reopening of Ford’s Plant and Regional Impact

The reactivation of the industrial complex in Camaçari comes after Ford ceased operations in Brazil in 2021, a milestone that significantly affected the Bahia automotive hub.

With BYD’s arrival, the structure underwent adaptations to accommodate the assembly of the Dolphin Mini and other electric models, solidifying the municipality as a production center for the segment in the country.

The president of BYD Auto Brazil, Tyler Lie, stated that the company is committed to the generation of jobs and income in Bahia, as well as supporting local social development.

According to the municipal administration and the state government, the investment made contributes to the economic recovery and strengthening of the labor market in the region, involving suppliers, service providers, and other segments linked to the automotive chain.

The new plant represents a stage in BYD’s expansion plan in Brazil, with projections for investments in infrastructure, technology, and professional training.

The production of the Dolphin Mini is part of a strategy to nationalize the electric fleet, following global trends in sustainability and automotive innovation.

Profiles and Testimonials from Participants

Among the participants of the drive, expressions were recorded regarding the impact of the selection process on the local community.

Gerson Morais, former Ford employee, reported having worked at the old factory from 2002 to 2021 and is now seeking a position at BYD.

Diarileine Xavier, a resident of Camaçari, highlighted that professionals over 40 face challenges in reentering the job market and considered the opportunity relevant.

Nathan Alexandre, 20, is seeking his first formal work experience, while Matheus Souza has applied for positions in the logistics sector.

Projections and Training for Dolphin Mini Production

The BYD project in Camaçari anticipates, according to the company’s own estimates, a progressive increase in direct and indirect jobs.

The unit is expected to boost regional workforce training, offering specific training in electric automotive technology, in addition to generating demand for suppliers and service companies linked to the sector.
