After Paralysis, Ifood Adjustment Raises Minimum Rates to R$ 7 (Bicycle) and R$ 7.50 (Moto) from June; Value Per KM Remains R$ 1.50, According to Reports.
The minimum rate increase for iFood delivery drivers has been announced. The news was recently given by the platform, after mobilizations from the category. The iFood adjustment raises the base rate to R$ 7.00 for bicycle delivery drivers and R$ 7.50 for motorcycle drivers. However, the new rates will only come into effect in June.
Ifood Adjustment: The Announcement After the Paralysis of Delivery Drivers
The iFood adjustment was communicated by the company after the recent national paralysis of delivery drivers. This mobilization demands better working conditions and salaries from various regions. However, according to reports, so far only iFood has announced any changes to the rates. Other apps like Uber, Lalamove, Rappi, and 99 have not made any announcements.
The New Minimum Rate Values: R$ 7 for Bicycle, R$ 7.50 for Moto
The increase announced by iFood represents different values for each modality. For delivery drivers using bicycles, the minimum rate has increased by R$ 0.50. The base rate has gone from R$ 6.50 to R$ 7.00. For motorcycle drivers, the increase was R$ 1.00. The minimum rate for motorcycle deliveries rose from R$ 6.50 to R$ 7.50.

And the KM Driven? Minimum Rate Distance Cannot Decrease
One important issue is whether the distance covered by the minimum rate has been changed. According to the source, iFood is not altering the amount paid per miles driven, which remains R$ 1.50/KM. The expressed expectation is that the mileage covered by the minimum rate will not be reduced.
This would mean that motorcycle drivers can continue to travel up to about 5 km for R$ 7.50. For bicycle delivery drivers, a distance of up to 3.5 km for R$ 7.00 is speculated. The ideal claim would be a higher minimum (R$ 10) for up to 5km, with a clear additional amount per excess KM, which did not occur.
Increase Valid Only in June; Other Apps Do Not Announce Adjustment
This iFood adjustment does not have immediate application. The new rates of R$ 7.00 (bicycle) and R$ 7.50 (moto) will only take effect from June 2025. They will not be applied in May. Meanwhile, other competing delivery platforms have not disclosed, so far, any type of increase or adjustment for delivery drivers.
The perception regarding the iFood adjustment, according to the source, is that the increase was small. Although any increase is a step forward, the values fell short of the expectations of many delivery drivers (who were asking for a minimum of R$ 10). The source reports indignation over the lack of adjustment by other companies. It also states that it already expected a value close to R$ 7.50 from iFood, considering the platform’s history.
