Used Renault Duster Draws Attention in the Market and Is More Advantageous than the New Kwid. Learn What to Notice When Buying a Used Vehicle and What Its Best Version Is.
Launched in 2011 in Brazil, the Renault Duster, based on the platform of the Sandero and Logan models, came with two flex engine options. The first option, a 1.6 engine, delivers 115/110 hp and comes with a five-speed manual transmission in the basic and Expression versions. The second option, a 2.0 engine, delivers 142/138 hp and can be equipped with a six-speed mechanical gearbox or a four-speed automatic found in the Dynamique version. Today, the used Renault Duster stands out in the market and may be a more advantageous choice than a new Kwid.
Highlights of the Used Renault Duster
The main highlight of the SUV is truly its commendable internal space, which is ideal for those who frequently hit the road and do not want to feel cramped. After all, it has a wheelbase of 2.67 meters, allowing better legroom for taller passengers traveling in the rear seat.
The 1.82 m width and 1.69 m height also contribute to this. The trunk capacity is 475 liters, the largest in its category, considering its length of 4.31 m. The Ford EcoSport, for example, does not even come close with its 296 L capacity.

Those who prefer the CVT transmission can find it in the used Renault Duster starting from 2017 in the 1.6 version. The first-generation Renault Duster lasted until 2020, when it made way for the new model with some updates and the discontinuation of some versions.
Attention: Check What to Pay Attention to When Acquiring Your Used Duster
When buying a used Renault Duster, it is essential to pay attention to a few points. The inefficiency of the acoustic insulation, which affects both the door linings and the dashboard, has generated various dissatisfaction due to noise. This problem is also common in other models from the brand.
In addition to the noise, there are several complaints about the inefficiency of the air conditioning. On complaint websites, an owner reported that after an hour of travel, the system stopped cooling the cabin, even at maximum power.
In models equipped with a manual transmission, the most common complaints involve difficult and imprecise shifts, attributed to the shifter. Some owners claim that they had to replace the clutch disc and plate in new vehicles with low mileage. In models with CVT transmission, complaints include vibrations and jerks during shifts, with some reporting costs over R$ 55 thousand for replacing the gearbox.
It is essential to check if the Duster in question has any pending recalls, such as airbag replacements, axle and suspension bolts, steering hose, brake booster, and corrections for defects in the engine oil supply compartment hole.

Considered the intermediate of the family, it already comes well equipped with air conditioning, power steering, electric window controls, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat and steering wheel, among other items.
Additionally, this version is equipped with a 1.6 engine, which is undoubtedly among the variants with lower fuel consumption, averaging 10 km/l in the city and 10.7 km/l on the highway with gasoline.
