The Notice for the New Public Competition of the State of Rio de Janeiro Is Set to Be Published Soon for Candidates Without Higher Education.

The state government of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) announced a public competition offering over 640 job openings for high school graduates and those without higher education to work as “soldiers,” while around 130 positions will be allocated for professional musical sergeants, such as violinists. Most of the selection processes for “soldiers” are aimed at bricklayers, electricians, painters, mechanics, locksmiths, tire repairmen, and others.

Few details have been released about how the selection process will occur; however, it is known that the organizing body responsible will be the Universal Institute for Social Development (IUDS). The exam will be conducted through objective tests, where candidates must answer about 60 questions, with at least 15 related to the Portuguese language, 15 for logical reasoning, and 30 about specific knowledge related to the chosen area. For example, a bricklayer must answer a test with 30 specific questions about civil construction.

Start Preparing for the Public Competition of Rio de Janeiro (RJ)

Thiago Nicol from Central de Concursos stated that IUDS, the body responsible for conducting the exam, is considered new in the state of Rio de Janeiro (RJ), and keeping this in mind, it is important for those interested in joining the Fire Department as bricklayers, mechanics, and electricians to start studying. Therefore, professionals can refer to the notice and the tests that were published last year to get an idea of the complexity.

Last year, the Fire Department published a public competition notice that included around 3,000 job openings for soldier professionals and also in the health area. Thus, the number of opportunities this year is considerably lower.

In addition to the opportunities for soldiers (bricklayers, carpenters, mechanics, and others), the Fire Department of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) is also seeking professionals in the music field, such as clarinetists, flutists, saxophonists, and various others.

The professor Diones Martins from the ZeroHum college and course stated that there will be questions on Portuguese related to grammar and spelling for candidates interested in working with music for the state government. Text interpretation will also be among the subjects covered, he estimates. Diones claims that the questions are not difficult, but professionals need to make an effort and stay focused when answering the questions to avoid mistakes due to misinterpretation.

Mathematics May Be Included in the Public Competition!

Diones states that the public competition notice for the Fire Department in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) has not yet been released. However, it is estimated that one of the topics that may be asked of interested candidates is basic mathematics. Basic math serves to assess the candidates’ logical reasoning skills. The rule of three, percentages, and other concepts learned in both high school and elementary school may be included, as they are very commonly found in tests produced by the Ministry of Education, MEC.
