BYD Qin Plus Sedan Gains New, Even Cheaper Plug-In Hybrid Version. Model From Chinese Brand Arrives to Compete Directly With Toyota Corolla.
Since it has strengthened in the automotive market, BYD has been introducing models across various categories and has now launched a more affordable version of a hybrid sedan. Called the Qin Plus DM-i, the BYD sedan is a plug-in hybrid, priced to compete with the Toyota Corolla and draws significant attention for its embedded technology.
BYD Qin Plus Sedan Is Sold for R$ 55 Thousand (in direct conversion)
The idea behind the Chinese brand launching the Glory Edition of the Qin Plus DM-i is primarily to attract consumers of compact combustion sedans and also to capture the attention of more affordable versions of mid-size sedans.
In China, the BYD Qin Plus sedan is sold for prices around R$ 55 thousand. This new version of the Qin Plus Sedan, rivaling the Toyota Corolla, manages to be cheaper than the old variant. Previously, the cheapest Qin Plus cost about R$ 13.8 thousand more than the currently sold model.

It is worth mentioning that this technology allows the vehicle to be equipped with both a combustion engine and an electric one. However, the latter must be recharged via a power outlet.
What Is the Range of the Toyota Corolla Rival?
The Qin Plus DM-i Sedan features a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine with 110 horsepower and 13.7 kgfm of torque. Meanwhile, the electric motor can deliver either 180 hp and 32.2 kgfm or 197 hp and 33 kgfm. Thus, like the Dolphin, the BYD Qin Plus sedan also has a Blade battery that can be 8.32 kWh or 18.32 kWh.
However, its all-electric range is only 55 km. Thus, the electric mode is more recommended for urban roads. Even though it’s an affordable model, the new plug-in hybrid version of the Qin Plus Sedan comes well-equipped.
The BYD Qin Plus DM-i sedan features a digital instrument panel, a large touchscreen multimedia center, and can have leather-upholstered seats and even a leather-covered dashboard. Its more refined sibling, the Qin Plus, equipped with Super DM-i technology, is expected to arrive here.
It is worth mentioning that test units of the Qin Plus DM-i were recently spotted driving in Brazil. After its debut in China, the expectation is that the model will be made available in other countries and regions.
BYD Launches Electric Car for Less Than US$ 10 Thousand
BYD recently launched an affordable electric car at an unprecedented price. Costing around US$ 9,500, this new model, called Seagull, has shocked the international market.
In terms of performance, the model does not disappoint, offering two range options that can reach 322 and 404 km on a single charge. This type of range, combined with a fast-charging system that can charge the battery from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes, positions this Tesla rival as a practical option for short trips.
The affordable electric car is powered by BYD’s lithium iron phosphate battery, which they developed internally, further reducing costs. The introduction of this model could mark a turning point in the market. Its price is quite competitive even against various gasoline vehicles like the Honda Fit.
