The Sesc-BA has initiated a new phase in its institutional strategy by partnering with EDP for the supply of renewable energy in the free market. According to EDP itself, the contract provides for the supply of 0.61 MW average of energy, totaling 26,718 MWh over the period until 2030. In practice, this means clean and predictable energy for 14 units of the institution spread across the state. Furthermore, the estimate is a savings of about 30% on electricity costs.
Another relevant data point is the positive environmental impact: the partnership includes the issuance of more than 26,000 renewable energy certificates, known as I-RECs, preventing the emission of approximately 1,200 tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂).
