Yamaha Registers The Aerox 155 Scooter In Brazil. Sold In Asia For R$ 8 Thousand, Model May Be A Cheap Option And Of Great Cost-Benefit.

Yamaha Surprises And Registers Aerox 155 Scooter In Brazil

Yamaha has registered the Aerox 155 scooter with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), a model sold in Southeast Asia for approximately R$ 8 thousand.

The request was made this year and raised the expectation that the brand may evaluate the arrival of the motorcycle in the national market.

The model draws attention because it uses the same engine as the already well-known Yamaha NMax 160, which costs R$ 22,890 in Brazil, not including freight.

The price difference between the scooters raises the question: could the Aerox become the most cost-effective cheap scooter in the country?

What Is The Yamaha Aerox 155 And Where Is It Sold?

The Yamaha Aerox 155 is sold in Southeast Asian countries, where motorcycles over 125cc are already seen as “maxi-scooters.” The model is quite popular in markets like the Philippines and India, where the brand bets on the concept of a low-cost sporty scooter.

Abroad, the motorcycle is presented as a practical and stylish urban alternative, with aggressive lines and a sporty look, distinguishing itself from the more sober appearance of the NMax sold in Brazil and Europe.

The Aerox 155 Engine Is The Same As The NMax 160

Despite the aesthetic differences, Yamaha did not skimp on mechanical similarities. The Aerox 155 features the same engine as the NMax 160, a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 155cc single-cylinder.

The engine delivers 15 horsepower and 1.4 kgfm of torque, identical numbers to those of the domestic NMax. In addition, it is already adapted for the use of E20 gasoline, with 20% ethanol. The automatic CVT transmission is also shared between the two scooters.

These features reinforce the point that the Aerox offers practically the same mechanical base as the NMax, but in a cheaper and sportier package.

Low Price Draws Attention

In India, Yamaha sells the Aerox 155 for around 138,075 rupees, which is approximately R$ 8,200 in direct conversion. In Brazil, on the other hand, the brand sells the NMax 160 for R$ 22,890, creating a price difference of over R$ 14,000 between the two scooters.

This price disparity places the Aerox 155 in an extremely advantageous position and shows how the model could transform the national market if Yamaha actually decided to launch it. Thus, those looking for a cheap scooter with excellent cost-benefit would find the Aerox an immediately attractive and highly competitive alternative.

Will There Be A Launch In Brazil?

Will there be a launch in Brazil?

Yamaha has registered the Aerox 155 with the INPI, but has not yet confirmed the sale of the model in Brazil. The manufacturer, it seems, made this move only to protect the design of the scooter and thus avoid copies or counterfeits in the national market.

Furthermore, the brand admitted that launching the Aerox 155 alongside the NMax 160 could create a conflict of audience, as both scooters deliver the same performance but appear in the market at very different prices.

Even so, the mere registration already sparks expectations among consumers. If Yamaha really bets on the Aerox 155, the model has the potential to shake up the Brazilian scooter market and, at the same time, establish itself as the brand’s main cost-benefit alternative.

Conclusion

The registration of the Yamaha Aerox 155 in Brazil already stimulates debates and fuels speculations about the future of the manufacturer’s scooter line in the country. As the model presents a highly competitive price in international markets and replicates the same mechanics as the NMax, it has the conditions to quickly become the most desired cheap scooter in Brazil.

However, Yamaha has not made its strategy clear yet. The brand maintains official silence, thus increasing expectations among consumers and specialists. Therefore, the Brazilian public awaits with attention the manufacturer’s next steps to find out if the motorcycle that has already conquered Asia will also find space on the streets and roads of Brazil.

Esqueceu as diferenças tributárias? Com certeza se chegar a ser mais barata essa diferença será mínima. Faltou raciocínio lógico na comparação hein?!
