Solstad Offshore Hired by Petrobras for Maritime Support Initiated Discussions with Creditors and Stakeholders as It Seeks to Restructure Its Finances.
“Despite signs of an improved market for offshore service vessels and being in compliance with the main financial costs of Q3 2018, the upcoming winter season in the North Sea is expected to be a challenge for the Company’s liquidity position.” Lars Peder Solstad also stated that the negotiations aim to improve its overall liquidity situation and create a robust long-term platform for the company. The firm seeks to organize itself financially to increase its activities believing that by 2022 large contracts and business opportunities will arise.
In a letter to clients, CEO Lars Peder Solstad stated that the negotiations will take some time to conclude due to the complex financial structure of the company, however operations will continue as normal and will not impact clients, employees, or suppliers.

Solstad Offshore in Brazil
Solstad Offshore has been renamed Solstad Farstad since last year due to the merger of Farstad Shipping, Solstad Offshore, and Deep Sea Supply. The Norwegian company has held a fleet of AHTS-type vessels operating in Brazil for quite some time. With new rounds of bidding from Petrobras, the company ended up leading due to the budget presented of US$ 28.8 million daily for maritime support contracts. After the last round of the pre-salt well auction, the main companies are seeking to resolve their financial issues to avoid contractual restrictions and thus remain legally operational.
