Contracts In The Oil And Gas Sector Targeted By Subsea 7
Subsea 7, a Norwegian engineering, construction, and underwater services company, is awaiting a final decision from the oil company Equinor this month regarding the important Bacalhau field project, located in the Santos Basin, the first pre-salt project to be developed by a foreign company.
In early 2020, Subsea 7 signed a contract with OneSubsea, part of Schlumberger, for the development of projects for the underwater infrastructure and platform anchoring in Bacalhau. Today, both companies are awaiting the green light from Equinor to execute the project, with installations expected to take place in 2022 and 2023.

Marcelo Xavier stated that they see the scenario in Brazil as much more dynamic compared to the last decade, emphasizing that the oil and gas sector is under pressure (globally) due to the acceleration of the energy transition agenda. Xavier also highlighted that Brazil has a significant window of opportunity to transform resources into wealth.
Subsea 7 is working to win other projects in the market, at different stages, also with Petrobras and other companies in the oil and gas sector. The company has already installed more than 1,000 km of rigid pipelines and over 4,000 km of flexible pipelines in the country and currently has a fleet consisting of 4 PLSVs and more than 40 ROVs. According to Xavier, Brazil has a significant impact on the group’s results.

Subsea 7, a global reference in underwater projects and services, announced in a relevant fact on the morning of May 24 that it has just secured a billion-dollar contract with Brazil’s largest oil company, Petrobras. The deal involves the underwater project of FPSO Duque de Caxias — Mero 3. According to Subsea 7, the scope of the service includes engineering, fabrication, installation, and pre-commissioning of 80 kilometers of rigid risers and flowlines, 60 kilometers of flexible service lines, 50 kilometers of umbilicals, and associated infrastructure, as well as the installation of the FPSO anchoring system.
Although the exact value of the contract was not disclosed, Subsea 7 stated that the deal closed between US$ 500 million and US$ 750 million. According to the Norwegian company, project management and engineering will begin immediately at the offices in Rio de Janeiro and Paris.
