Modernization Versus Tradition: A Debate That Shapes the Industry and Its Future
We live in the era of Industry 4.0, where technological innovation is key to achieving new levels of productivity and efficiency. However, there are still companies that resist this wave of change, maintaining outdated practices, such as the use of conventional doors. This resistance unfortunately translates into problems such as low productivity, workplace accident risks, and resource waste.
The Acceleration of Innovation in the Industrial Sector
As revealed by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), the Brazilian industrial sector increased investment in innovation by 33.4% between 2016 and 2019, rising from R$ 12.7 billion to R$ 16.9 billion. Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing are being implemented increasingly intensively, boosting efficiency and improving the strategic vision of the industry. In this context, fast doors stand out as a solution that deserves attention.
“To maintain isolated environments, ensuring quick and secure access, a fast door becomes essential”, comments Giordania R. Tavares, CEO of Rayflex, the national leader in fast door manufacturing. According to her, this technology not only reduces costs and facilitates cleaning but also promotes proper separation between internal and external environments, while ensuring the safety of employees.

However, even with all these advantages, there are still companies that resist adopting the technology, mainly due to a lack of knowledge about the initiative’s benefits.
The Impacts of Using Conventional Doors in the Industry
With the aim of elucidating the benefits of fast doors, Giordania identified three main challenges that industries face when opting for conventional doors:
Declining Productivity
The automation of doors promotes agility in task execution, as it eliminates the need to interrupt activities to open or close doors manually. The time savings are significant, which can be converted into increased productivity or even rest periods for employees.
Increased Risk of Accidents
Conventional doors require employees to handle them manually, often when their hands are busy, raising the risk of workplace accidents. Automatic doors, on the other hand, include sensors and photocells that detect the presence of objects or people, optimizing the safety of workers and equipment.
Resource Waste
The slowness in opening and the forgetfulness in closing conventional doors can lead to waste of input materials, allowing the entry of contaminants and altering ambient temperature, which can compromise product quality. Automatic doors, which open and close quickly, help control hygiene and temperature in the environment, reducing the risk of contamination and minimizing financial losses.
