According to him: “In the next 10 years, oil production will have a 73% increase, and we will invest over US$ 400 billion in the oil, gas, and biofuels sector. As Minister of Mines and Energy, from day one, I made it clear that better legal frameworks, more legal security, a focus on private investment, and generating competition is the path to prosperity.” This statement from the Minister occurred during the opening of the 20th edition of Rio Oil and Gas, the largest event in the oil, gas, and biofuels sector in Latin America.
The minister also spoke about the approval in the National Congress of the measure that limits taxation on energy and fuels as essential goods, which according to him, is one of the most important measures approved in Brazil’s history.

The government of Peru declared an environmental emergency in the Loreto region on Saturday, the 24th, after an oil spill from the Norperuvian pipeline. The measure taken by the government, following the pipeline accident, will last for 90 days.
“The objective is to safeguard the sustainable management of the territories affected by the pipeline, carrying out the corresponding recovery and remediation work to mitigate environmental contamination,” the statement from Peru said.
The measure taken by the government, following the oil spill from the pipeline, aims to protect the health of residents in that region of the country and also to preserve the natural resources that comprise the territory of the Amazon River, affected by the oil.
According to the federal administration, the area affected by the oil pipeline spill is where artisanal fishing occurs. Authorities indicated that this pipeline spill event is based on a sudden incident with a significant impact on the ecosystem of the Amazon River, as well as a high risk to public health.
The Environmental Assessment and Oversight Agency stated that “848,400 m² of water body have been affected by the pipeline spill, comprising 33,600 m² of the flotation channel, 600 m² of an unnamed creek, 154,200 m² of the Cuninico creek, and 660,000 m² of the left bank of the Marañón River.”
Local and regional governments will coordinate with responsible public entities to carry out the emergency plan, aiming to minimize the impacts caused by the oil pipeline spill.
