Suzuki surprised the international market by relaunching a 90s classic motorcycle, the Saluto 125, in Asian countries. With a price equivalent to R$ 12,000 at the current exchange rate, the scooter arrives as an accessible entry-level alternative equipped with modern technologies, such as a semi-digital dashboard, full LED lighting, and a keyless system. The price makes it cheaper than a CG 160, however, much to the frustration of many Brazilians, the new model will not be sold in Brazil. Despite its vintage style, the scooter includes current technical differentials, such as full LED lighting, a semi-digital dashboard—with an analog speedometer and complementary digital screen—and a keyless system, which eliminates the need for a key to start or lock the vehicle.

Another highlight is the USB port, located on the front shield, allowing for mobile device charging during urban use, a feature valued among young and connected consumers.

Suzuki Motorcycle Arrives Cheaper than a CG in Asian Markets

The Saluto 125 has an official price of NT$ 64,000 in Taiwan—which, when directly converted to Brazilian reais, equals approximately R$ 12,000. This places it in the cheaper than a CG category, considering that the Honda CG 160 has an average price in Brazil between R$ 13,000 and R$ 15,000.

This competitive price, combined with technological features and a distinctive style, makes the scooter one of Suzuki’s best cost-benefit options for entry-level markets. Unfortunately, the brand does not plan to bring the Suzuki motorcycle to the Brazilian market in the short term, leaving interested parties restricted to independent importation.

Cheap Suzuki Motorcycle Has Efficient Engine and Low Consumption

The Saluto 125 utilizes a well-established 124 cc air-cooled engine, derived from the Access 125, one of Suzuki’s most popular models in Asia. The SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) technology provides a balance between urban performance and low fuel consumption.

According to manufacturer data and local tests, the model offers a power output of about 8.8 cv at 7,000 rpm and torque of 9.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm, ideal for urban commuting and short trips. The transmission is CVT automatic, ensuring simplicity and comfort while riding, without the need for gear changes.

The declared average consumption ranges between 46.8 km/l, depending on usage conditions, ensuring an estimated range of over 180 km with a full tank (5-liter capacity). In addition to good fuel efficiency, the model features telescopic front suspension and dual rear suspension, disc brakes, and alloy wheels, reinforcing its suitability for daily urban use.
