Move Brasil no longer has a 120-day limit for taxi drivers and rideshare drivers to secure financing for new vehicles, following an update from the National Monetary Council linked to Law 15,503/2026, maintaining up to R$ 30 billion authorized and a payment term of up to 84 months.

The regulation was updated on September 14, according to a report by Agência Brasil. The change allows for the continuation of operations, conditional on resource availability and the program’s rules.

The financing continues to be credit contracted through institutions authorized by BNDES. It is neither a free transfer to the driver nor an automatic approval for anyone interested.

Abolishing the 120-Day Limit Prevents Disruption in New Contracts

According to a report on the CMN’s decision, the previous timeline was linked to the provisional measure that created the program. Its validity would have reached the first half of September.

The new law did not maintain this limitation. Therefore, the council removed the provision from the regulation that ended the possibility of contracting operations after 120 days.

Continuity is the main change announced. It preserves the existence of the line of credit, but does not eliminate the authorized financial limit or the necessary conditions for each operation.

The R$ 30 Billion is an Authorized Limit, Not Money Already Distributed

The legislation allows for up to R$ 30 billion for financing lines, according to the consulted coverage. Contracting depends on budgetary and financial availability to support the operations.

Thus, the amount should not be presented as a total already delivered to professionals. The announcement defines the authorized capacity for the program, without indicating the total disbursement made to date.

There is no automatic division of this amount by driver. The value of each operation depends on the vehicle, the acceptable conditions, and the evaluation made by the financial institution.

Taxi Drivers, Cooperatives, and Rideshare Drivers Remain the Target Group

The program is intended for individual paid passenger transport. The regulation covers taxi drivers, taxi cooperatives, and drivers who work through ride-hailing platforms.

This classification distinguishes the line from generic financing for any private vehicle. The professional purpose is part of the audience described in the rules published by Agência Brasil.

The existence of a dedicated line for these groups does not exempt the need for documentation validation. Interested individuals must confirm with the authorized institution the required documentation for their situation.

Minimum Registration Period for Rideshare Drivers Reduced from One Year to Six Months

For rideshare drivers, the minimum registration period on the platform has been reduced to six months, down from the previous one-year requirement, according to the update reported by the agency.

This change expands the pool of professionals who can meet the temporal requirement. It does not replace other contracting conditions nor does it independently attest to the approval of an application.

The driver must distinguish between registration time and credit analysis. These are distinct checks: one pertains to eligibility for the program; the other, to the desired financial operation.

The vehicle can cost up to R$ 200,000 and the term can reach seven years

The stated limit for the financed vehicle value is R$ 200,000. This program targets the acquisition of new vehicles for professionals who meet the outlined criteria.

The payment period may extend up to 84 months, equivalent to seven years. This is the maximum allowable term and not an obligation to always contract for the longest period.

The amount of the installments cannot be simply determined by dividing the car’s price by the number of months. The transaction also involves charges and conditions defined at the time of contracting.

The six-month grace period refers to the principal payment

The regulation maintains up to six months of grace for the principal, according to the report. Principal refers to the borrowed amount, distinct from the charges associated with the financing agreement made by the professional.

Therefore, this condition should not be simplified as six months without any cost. The treatment of the charges needs to be verified in the financial institution’s proposal.

The grace period may alter the amortization schedule, but it does not change credit into a non-repayable benefit. The driver continues to assume a financial obligation tied to the signed contract.

Rates of 1.5% and 2.5% do not solely represent the final interest

The CMN report indicates a cost of resources at 2.5% per year, with 1.5% for purchases made by women. These percentages are components of the disclosed financial conditions.

It also includes remuneration from BNDES of up to 1.25% per year and from financial institutions of up to 8.5% per year. Therefore, the first percentage does not summarize the final cost.

To compare proposals, it is necessary to observe the charges effectively presented by the financial agent. The announcement does not allow promising that every driver will contract the operation based solely on the 1.5% rate.

Registration costs for the guarantee can be included in financing

The update clarifies the inclusion of costs for formation, registration, and annotation of fiduciary alienation, a type of guarantee used in the transaction, as per the report on the regulation.

Examples cited include notary fees. Incorporating these expenses into the credit can reduce the initial outlay but means they become part of the contracted operation.

Thus, the change affects when the professional needs to pay certain costs. It does not mean that notary services or registrations have become free for all participants in the program.

Security items for women can receive part of the financed amount

The possibility remains to allocate up to 10% of the total financed for the acquisition of security items aimed at the needs of women working in passenger transport.

This provision has a specific purpose within the program. The percentage should not be presented as additional free money for any expenses unrelated to the admitted items.

The classification of expenses must be confirmed at the time of hiring. The report maintains the general rule without providing a complete list of equipment automatically approved by all banks.

The financing also does not replace local activity requirements, as exemplified by the regulation of taxis in Vitória da Conquista, a municipal procedure distinct from the contract for financing.

The banking proposal remains the decisive document for the driver

The operations are carried out by institutions accredited by BNDES. Before hiring, the professional needs to verify the term, charges, guarantees, included expenses, and the total proposed payment commitment.

The update keeps the program available beyond the previous deadline and reduces a registration time requirement. The main financial conditions, according to Agência Brasil, have been preserved.

The concrete effect is to allow new hires within the authorized limit. The decision to take on financing depends on the conditions offered and the financial reality of each professional.
