Posha uses camera, artificial intelligence, and mechanical arm to stir, control heat, and prepare over 1,000 recipes almost on its own.
According to Posha, all you need to do is choose a recipe, place the indicated ingredients in the containers, and let the machine take over much of the work that typically keeps someone in front of the stove. The device monitors the food with a camera, determines when to add ingredients, automatically controls the heat, and operates an arm that stirs the food in the pot.
The library already includes over 1,000 recipes, including curries, pastas, soups, rice, meats, vegetarian dishes, and desserts. The robot is already being delivered to consumers in the United States, showcasing how the next generation of appliances can tackle one of the most time-consuming household tasks: overseeing the preparation of lunch or dinner from start to finish.
Posha aims to eliminate the need to watch the pot
Anyone who cooks knows the routine. You need to sauté an ingredient, wait, stir to prevent burning, add another food item, reduce the heat, and come back a few minutes later.

Posha was created to take on exactly that active part of the process. It doesn’t just function like a pot that receives temperature and counts time. It keeps track of what’s happening throughout the recipe.

Users still need to prepare and portion the ingredients. However, after placing them in the designated containers, they can step away while the equipment executes multiple steps automatically.
The company summarizes the process in three actions: choose the recipe, load the ingredients, and let Posha cook.
A camera monitors the food as it cooks
One of the most unusual components is aimed directly at the pot. Posha is equipped with a camera used for its computer vision system.
Computer vision is the technology that allows a machine to interpret images. In this case, the goal is to recognize different stages of cooking and adjust the process accordingly.
The camera helps the system assess what is happening instead of just following a fixed timer. The machine can monitor visual changes in the food and combine this information with other data.
This functionality brings it closer to the behavior of someone who checks the pot before deciding if a sauce needs a few more minutes.
The robot controls the heat without requiring someone to turn knobs
Posha has its own heating system and automatically controls the temperature during compatible recipes.
If a preparation needs to start at a higher heat and then cook slowly, the device executes this change following the recipe’s programming and the information obtained during cooking.
The difference is evident when compared to traditional electric pots. Many appliances maintain a temperature or execute closed programs, while Posha is designed to carry out multiple phases sequentially.
It can sauté, reduce heat, stir, and continue cooking without requiring a person to remain in front of the device throughout the entire sequence.
A mechanical arm stirs the food during cooking
Another visible component is the mechanism that enters the pot to stir the food.
The system controls the speed and timing of the movement according to the preparation. This allows for cooking dishes that typically need to be stirred multiple times on the stove.
This approach makes sense especially for sauces, curries, risottos, stir-fries, soups, and other recipes made in a single pot.
This is where the Posha distinguishes itself from a smart oven. The oven controls the heat, but does not physically move the food throughout different stages.
Compartments Add Ingredients at the Scheduled Time
Not everything needs to go into the pot at the first minute.
The Posha has containers where users can pre-load ingredients that will be released later. The system can add them at the right stage of the recipe.

There are also dedicated containers for spices, water, and oil. In the current setup released by the company, the device can come with four containers, reusable capsules for spices, and a reservoir for liquids.
This avoids one of the common limitations of automatic cooking pots, where all ingredients must be added together before the cooking starts.
Over 1,000 Recipes Already Available in the System
The official Posha library exceeds 1,000 preparations. The list includes American, Indian, Italian, Korean, Thai, and other cuisines.
Among the dishes presented by the company are spaghetti Bolognese, butter chicken, beef and broccoli, shakshuka, mac and cheese, tofu curry, and fried rice.
The app also allows filtering for vegetarian, vegan, high-protein, and quick options.
Variety is important because a kitchen robot depends on both the software and hardware. Each recipe needs to inform the machine how to heat, stir, and release the ingredients.
Independent Test Showed That the Proposal Works in the Real World
In December 2025, The Verge published a review after using the Posha in a home kitchen.
The assessment described a device capable of stirring, heating, and controlling stages with minimal human involvement after the ingredients were loaded. The review highlighted positive results in several dishes.

The test also pointed out limitations. The device takes up considerable counter space, heavily relies on its software ecosystem, and is not suitable for every style of cooking.
Even so, the results showed that the product has moved beyond being just a prototype demonstrated at trade shows.
Real consumers are already receiving units in the United States.
The Price Still Keeps the Robot Out of Most Kitchens
All this automation comes at a high cost.
As of September 2026, the official list price is US$ 1,750, with a temporary offer of US$ 1,500. The company allows customers to reserve a unit with a refundable deposit of US$ 25 and states that the next batch is expected to ship in December 2026.
For now, the announced commercial shipments are being made in the United States. There is no confirmed official launch for Brazil.
There is also an optional subscription called Posha Circle. It costs US$ 14.95 per month or US$ 139.95 per year, granting access to the complete library of automated recipes.
Without the subscription, the owner retains access to a basic selection of recipes and a manual mode called Co-Pilot.
The Goal is to Reclaim Some of the Time Spent Daily in the Kitchen
Raghav Gupta, co-founder and CEO of Posha, told TechCrunch that the idea arose from a personal problem. He wanted to enjoy homemade meals without spending too much time cooking or constantly relying on store-bought meals.
According to Gupta, the goal is to reduce active cooking time by at least 70%, leaving about 10 to 20 minutes of direct work daily for certain users.
Choosing the recipe, chopping some ingredients, and loading them still requires human hands. After that, the camera, motors, software, heating, and dispensers take over much of the sequence.
The result is an appliance that begins to treat cooking in the same way a washing machine treats clothes: someone loads the device, selects the program, and waits for the process to finish.
Today, US$ 1,500 still makes this automated kitchen a costly and restricted product. But the machine is already capable of preparing over 1,000 recipes, is found in real homes, and points to a direction that other manufacturers may follow. If a device could autonomously control the heat, stir the pot, and add each ingredient at the right moment, how much of your day would you be willing to give up for a robot to cook for you?
