Come on, Amage and Grupo G10 are responsible for the biggest purchases of trucks in Brazil, with giant orders that move the transport sector.
Brazil, with its vast roads and growing economy, has a robust and essential road transport sector. Recently, a monumental purchase redefined the market, marking the largest truck purchase in Brazil at one time.
Prominent companies such as Vamos, Amage and Grupo G10 are at the forefront of this revolution, investing heavily in renewing and expanding their fleets. These acquisitions not only move billions, but also reflect a growing commitment to efficiency and sustainability in cargo transportation.
1st Place: 1350 trucks by Vamos
The largest purchase of trucks in Brazil at one time was made by Vamos, a company from the Simpar Group, specialized in leasing trucks and machines. In the midst of the pandemic, Vamos ordered 1350 vehicles from Volkswagen, the largest sale ever made by the manufacturer to a single customer and Vamos' largest order to date.
- Mega highway project worth R$3 BILLION is delivered, but is at risk of collapsing three weeks after inauguration
- BE CAREFUL, more than 2 thousand km of highways will be privatized with free flow electronic tolls and those who do not pay may accumulate some 'points' in their wallet!
- Dnit invests R$1 billion in maintenance, repairs and improvements to highways in Minas Gerais, including the duplication of sections and the construction of shoulders
- BILLION-DOLLAR investment in highway should generate 24 THOUSAND jobs and prevent MORE THAN 2 THOUSAND accidents
The trucks were delivered between August and December 2020, and to meet this gigantic order, Volkswagen had to reopen the second production shift at the Resende factory, in the south of Rio de Janeiro. The value of the contract was not disclosed, but the flexibility of truck rental contracts during the pandemic was a key factor in this decision.
Of this order, 80% of the trucks were allocated to new Vamos contracts signed in the three months prior to the order, and the remainder was used for fleet renewal. Vamos' fleet mainly serves agribusiness, with 40% of trucks, and 21% dedicated to logistics and transport.
2nd Place: 350 trucks by Amage
Amage, an agribusiness giant, made the second largest purchase of trucks from Brazil at once, acquiring 350 Scania trucks last year. Of these, 100 trucks are ready to run on B100 biodiesel, a strategic action by the company to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 2035.
The models purchased include 100 units of the R500 6×4 Super, configured to run on biodiesel, and 250 units of the R560 6×4 Super, which use conventional diesel type S10. These trucks comply with the new legislation to reduce pollutant emissions in force since January 2023.
Before this purchase, Amage already had a fleet of 700 trucks and should close 2024 with a fleet of 1000 vehicles. The company fuels its trucks with biodiesel produced at its own factory in Lucas do Rio Verde, Mato Grosso, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.
3rd Place: 300 trucks by Group G10
Third place on this list of giants is occupied by Grupo G10, a conglomerate of transport companies based in Maringá, Paraná. In a single move, the G10 acquired 300 Scania trucks, disbursing R$165 million. This was the largest purchase in the history of the G10 and the second largest ever recorded by Scania in Brazil.
The models purchased, R450 6×2 and R500 6×4, were customized to meet the specific needs of the group, which transports grain, fertilizers, sugar, ethanol, seeds and steel. This purchase is part of the G10 fleet renewal plan, scheduled to take place in 2019 and financed by BNDES and private banks.
The largest purchase of trucks in Brazil at one time highlights the robustness of the country's road transport sector.
