Free Training For Heavy Load Vehicle Drivers
In an initiative aimed at road safety, SEST SENAT, in partnership with the Brazilian Association of Transportation and Logistics of Hazardous Products (ABTLP), launched the course “Theoretical Training of Drivers for Combination Load Vehicles (CVC).”
The training is directed at drivers who wish to improve their skills in the safe operation of combinations such as bitrens, rodotrens, and tritrens.
With a total duration of 20 hours, the course is offered in a Distance Learning (EaD) format, allowing flexibility for professionals in the sector.
The curriculum includes topics such as traffic legislation, proper maneuver techniques, and specific procedures for transporting hazardous materials on highways.
Another central aspect of the training is vehicle inspection before the start of trips, crucial for identifying faults and avoiding accidents.
During the course, participants learn to conduct preventive checks and identify signs of failures in vehicle systems, such as brakes, quickly and accurately.
Partnership With ABTLP Guarantees Safety And Quality
With collaboration from ABTLP, the course aims to guarantee a complete and specialized training.
“We want, with this partnership, to continue offering training that ensures more safety in the transportation of goods across the country,” highlights Nicole Goulart, national executive director of SEST SENAT.
This partnership emphasizes the importance of comprehensive training, encompassing all safety aspects, including types of roads and adverse conditions that drivers face in Brazil.
José Maria Gomes, president of ABTLP, also emphasizes that the course was created to meet the needs of an increasingly demanding sector.
He highlights that the training covers topics such as traffic laws specific to the transportation of hazardous materials, as well as instructing drivers on sharp turns, special signals, and even the impact of variables such as load inclination.
The goal is to prepare drivers to handle large vehicles in challenging situations, where technical knowledge can make the difference between safety and a potential accident.
Impact Of Driver Training On Reducing Accidents With Hazardous Loads
The need for robust training becomes clear when we observe the numbers of accidents involving hazardous loads.
According to data from the Commission for the Study and Prevention of Accidents in the Road Transportation of Hazardous Products in São Paulo, there was an increase in the number of occurrences in 2021.
A total of 1,095 incidents were recorded, compared to 939 cases the previous year.
These numbers underscore the urgency of specialized training, which can prepare drivers to prevent accidents, promoting a culture of safety.
Besides enhancing drivers’ skills, the course directly aims to contribute to reducing incidents in the transportation of hazardous materials.
The training covers emergency protocols, such as brake response times and immediate actions in case of leaks, equipping drivers to react quickly to risk situations.
Practical And Safety Aspects Covered By The Course
The SEST SENAT course also dedicates a portion of its content to safety practices, which include specific maneuvers for bitrens, rodotrens, and tritrens.
Additionally, the program addresses the various Brazilian highways and the necessary adaptations for each type of road.
Drivers are trained to understand the challenges of the roads, such as tight turns and steep descents, where vehicle control is crucial.
This practical preparation is essential, especially considering that the transportation of hazardous materials poses risks not only to the driver but also to other drivers and the environment.
By covering all safety aspects, the course helps mitigate the risks associated with road transportation, while preparing drivers to handle the most adverse situations.
