Caoa Chery Tiggo 5X skyrockets in sales in Brazil: a 2,318% increase and waiting lists of up to 4 months to acquire the model.
With the capacity for 14 occupants, a robust engine, and a range of safety and comfort equipment, the model promises to win over the public. But is it the successor that the market is expecting?
Power and Performance Tailored to Brazil
Toyota has spared no effort in offering a vehicle that meets Brazilian needs.
The Hiace’s 2.8 turbo diesel engine delivers 165 horsepower and a maximum torque of 42.8 kgfm, ensuring strength for urban and highway transport.
The six-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive complete the mechanical setup, providing smooth and safe steering.
With a speed limit of 100 km/h, the model focuses on safety during passenger trips. Additionally, the 70-liter fuel tank promises good autonomy, balancing consumption and efficiency.

Spacious and Practical Design for 14 People
The Hiace impresses with its generous dimensions: it measures 5.91 meters long, 1.95 meters wide, and 2.28 meters high.
The 3.86-meter wheelbase ensures ample interior space, comfortably accommodating 13 passengers and the driver.
The seats offer ergonomic adjustments and reclining backs, while rear passengers have armrests and USB ports for added convenience.
The 16-inch wheels, combined with 235/65 R16 tires, easily support the weight of passengers and cargo.
Comfort and Cutting-Edge Technology
To stand out in the market, the Hiace comes packed with standard items focused on comfort and convenience.
The model features air conditioning with vents directed at the rear seats, a multifunction steering wheel, and a multimedia center with a 9-inch screen and Bluetooth.
The 4.2-inch TFT digital display shows essential information, while the six speakers and USB ports keep everyone connected and entertained.
The seats combine fabric and synthetic material upholstery, with height and depth adjustments for the driver.

Toyota and Safety as a Top Priority
The Hiace does not skimp on safety features, especially as it is aimed at collective transport.
The model includes front airbags, a knee airbag exclusive for the driver, traction control (TRC), and stability control (VSC).
Additionally, it offers hill-start assist (HAC) and brakes with ABS and EBD, which distribute braking force among the wheels to prevent accidents.
Front and rear fog lights enhance visibility in adverse conditions, and emergency brake lights help prevent collisions during sudden stops.
Expected Arrival and Expectations
With a launch slated for the first half of 2025, the Toyota Hiace promises to compete for a prominent position among passenger transport vehicles in Brazil.
Although the price has yet to be announced, the five-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty is an important draw for fleet operators and independent drivers.
According to the site Autos Segredos, the Hiace will arrive in Brazil in a standardized version, with a white body.
In Argentina, where the model is already sold, this configuration has been successful, indicating that Toyota’s strategy may replicate successfully here.
But will the Hiace win over Brazilians and take the place left by the Kombi? The answer will only come after its launch. Meanwhile, expectations are high for this modern and safe bet from Toyota.
