The Toyota Plant in São Paulo Is Considered the Cleanest Factory of the Brand in the World
Toyota do Brasil celebrated on Tuesday (10) the 5th anniversary of the Porto Feliz plant, São Paulo, highlighting how the factory is a global reference in sustainability within the group. Being the only Toyota plant in Latin America and the Caribbean that produces engines for automobiles, the Porto Feliz plant is considered the cleanest in the world.
The factory follows the same Ecofactory concept used at the Sorocaba (SP) unit. The principle is based on reducing the emissions of polluting waste generated each year, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and CO2 emissions.
Moreover, the concept also emphasizes rainwater reuse and the conservation of native forest areas. Since it was built, the Toyota plant in SP has developed about 20 environmental activities, which included a 56% reduction in waste, 42% reduction in water usage in the production process, and a 32% reduction in CO2 emissions according to the automaker.
