Petrobras P-25 Coronavirus Oil Platform
Oil tankers serving Petrobras in isolation

Oil workers described a situation of fear on board the Petrobras unit in the Campos Basin. Employees of 3 companies that were in quarantine have already tested negative for the coronavirus

Despite all the precautions taken by Petrobras and even by other oil companies, it was only a matter of time before concerns about the coronavirus reached the offshore units. Complex situation but not surprising, after all, platforms usually have workers from several states, even from other countries.

Reports sent to Click Petróleo e Gás this Thursday (19) show the fear and concern of some employees who were completely isolated in their cabins on board the P-25, a Petrobras unit operating in the Campos Basin, in the Campos Albacore. Listen to the audio below:

In the photos below, it is possible to understand the drama of outsourced workers and despite the situation, Petrobras has not yet stopped production on the platform. The information that arrived indicates that 4 workers from Elfe Engenharia, 2 from Halliburton and 3 more from another unidentified company were in confinement.

It is worth remembering that they were not allowed to leave their rooms for absolutely nothing, food was being brought to them and they were being monitored by health professionals on board.

The order was for those who cough, have the flu or feel unwell, to go straight to the infirmary and stay isolated until a suitable moment for disembarking.

*Update* – According to information from the oil workers themselves after the publication of this article, it was reported that some had already disembarked, had the exams and tested negative.

There are reports of related problems in other Petrobras units: P-58, P-66 and PCH 1. We still don't have more detailed reports about these. If you want to share any additional information with us, click here and contact us.

The Oil Workers' Union signal that they may strike again and paralyze Petrobras' activities

To prevent offshore and even land-based workers from being contaminated, the FUP (Federação Único dos Petroleiros) threatens Petrobras if the necessary and ostensible care with the virus is not dealt with properly, including the right to refuse work in case any worker does not want to execute.
