Listen Below to the Call Reporting the Murder
Employees at the Traffic Control Center of the Río de La Plata received, on Friday afternoon, a communication via the VHF channel. An unidentified person called around midnight and said that he had killed two men on the Ayane and demanded the presence of the city hall.
After the call, an operation was coordinated. City hall troops were at Cabo Corrientes Coast Guard, which was near the area, while they tried to establish communication with the Ayane.
The Oil Tanker is Suitable for Transporting Oil Products and Chemicals
At the time of the shooting, the oil tanker Ayane was anchored in the harbor at the height of the city of Punta Lara. The vessel is suitable for transporting oil products and chemicals. Autopsies will be performed on the victims in the coming hours.
The man who claimed responsibility for the deaths is a former police officer, dismissed in 2007 with a criminal record. Lima argued with a neighbor on June 2, 2008, in La Plata, and shot him with his 9mm pistol. The neighbor was shot six times after asking for explanations for breaking the pavement with hammers to prevent water from accumulating from the drainage of a washing machine. The man was seriously injured. Lima locked himself in his house and resisted authorities until he surrendered.
In 2011, Lima was sentenced to seven years in prison for attempted murder aggravated by the use of weapons. He was incarcerated at Unit 9 in La Plata and later at Unit 28 in Magdalena. After five years behind bars, he was released on parole on January 18, 2013. Despite his past, he joined the Merchant Navy.
