EDF Will Generate Internship, Youth Apprentice, and Formal Job Opportunities for Young People in Vulnerable Situations Such as Black, Brown, Periphery Residents, and People with Disabilities to Enter the Labor Market

EDF Norte Fluminense has just partnered with the initiative “One Million Opportunities,” which brings together the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the International Labour Organization (ILO), international institutions, the private sector, the third sector, governments, and civil society. The initiative is the largest mobilization for youth in Brazil, and the company seeks to help change the employment and educational landscape by creating job, internship, and youth apprentice opportunities for vulnerable candidates.

The company, which is responsible for generating 25% of the energy consumed in the metropolitan region of the state of Rio de Janeiro, seeks to help change the employment and educational scenario for Brazilian youth. Today, 6.6 million young people between the ages of 18 and 24 are neither studying nor working.

By supporting “One Million Opportunities,” the largest mobilization for youth in Brazil, EDF Norte Fluminense is committed to generating job opportunities for young people and adolescents in vulnerable situations – such as Black, Brown, Indigenous, periphery residents, rural areas, and people with disabilities – to enter the labor market in internship, youth apprentice, and formal job positions.

“We have a responsibility to contribute to the development of the country’s youth to ensure more equal opportunities in the future. It is extremely gratifying to participate in such a transformative initiative that aligns with the values of EDF Norte Fluminense,” says Emmanuelle Missire, Director of Human Resources, Communication, and QSMA at EDF Norte Fluminense.

EDF Norte Fluminense Contributes to the Qualified Inclusion of Young People in the Labor Market

With support for the project, the EDF Norte Fluminense further contributes to the qualified inclusion of young people in the labor market, providing the necessary conditions for them to continue their studies and complete their education, as well as compete for job vacancies. Moreover, the company is committed to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The “One Million Opportunities” initiative aims to create more access opportunities for quality education and decent and fair jobs for young people aged 14 to 24, especially those in vulnerable situations. In the next two years, the project aims to create one million opportunities, focusing on four main pillars: access to quality education; digital inclusion and connectivity; promoting entrepreneurship and youth leadership; and access to the world of work through internship, apprentice, and formal job opportunities.

Registration: All opportunities can be accessed at this link and through the initiative’s app. Interested individuals can access quality information about training courses and job opportunities, including data segmented by region.
