Mystery in China! Porsche Carrera GT Abandoned in Dealership for Over a Decade – Why Is No One Picking It Up?

Imagine finding, in a forgotten dealership, a trio of supercars abandoned and covered in dust. This is the scene the YouTuber Effspot came across, revealing a Porsche Carrera GT, a Ferrari Superamerica, and a Chevrolet Corvette Z06, all left to the mercy of time.

But how were such high-value vehicles left in such a deplorable state? Let’s explore this mystery and understand why these automotive gems ended up like this.

Effspot, known for documenting his adventures in search of rare cars, began his journey in a mall in a more remote area of China. There, he found a Pagani Zonda Cinque – one of five examples in the world, displayed with little security, allowing the YouTuber to capture detailed footage of the supercar.

Abandoned Cars in China Beyond Porsche

Already enchanted by his discovery, he headed to the Dream Powers Model Factory, a place where scale models of luxurious cars – from Rolls-Royces to Porsches – are displayed with meticulous detail. However, the peak of his adventure was yet to come at the mysterious abandoned dealership.

Upon entering the old dealership, Effspot found three vehicles covered by a thick layer of dust. The presence of fallen tiles, faded photos, and other remnants of a bygone era contributed to the atmosphere of neglect and abandonment. Among the treasures found, the Porsche Carrera GT stood out as the most valuable piece.

Equipped with a 5.7-liter V10 engine and 603 horsepower, this car is desired by collectors and has a market value that easily exceeds US$ 1 million. However, having been idle for so long, it requires a full service, which wouldn’t be cheap.

Next to the Porsche is the Ferrari Superamerica, a unique version of the 575M model, which is itself an evolution of the iconic 550 Maranello. This distinctive model features a retractable roof and altered rear styling, making it even more special for Ferrari enthusiasts.

In its manual configuration, the Superamerica becomes extremely rare and valuable, further elevating the potential value of the dealership. Finally, in contrast to the European models, a bright yellow Corvette Z06 completes the trio. Although it has a lower market value than the Porsche and Ferrari, the Corvette is also a sought-after sports car, especially in North America.

History of the Dealership

But what could lead a dealership to abandon vehicles of such importance? One of the most discussed theories among enthusiasts is that the establishment closed its doors in the early 2010s, possibly due to anti-corruption laws that affected various businesses in the country. However, this hypothesis remains uncertain, and the true story behind the closure of the dealership remains surrounded by mystery.

For car fans, the state of abandonment of these machines is almost sacrilege. It’s hard to understand how cars that are dream acquisitions were left at the mercy of dust and weather conditions, when they could be in the hands of collectors or cruising the streets.

The situation is even more intriguing when considering that the value of these cars, even as the years go by, continues to rise. In the collector’s market, a proper restoration could easily make these vehicles shine again – and attract million-dollar bids at auctions.

Rediscovering the Shine: The 1988 Ferrari Testarossa Abandoned That Came Back to Life

Imagine passing by a rare car every day, a classic abandoned that still holds all the aura of luxury and power. This is exactly what happened in Puerto Rico, where a 1988 Ferrari Testarossa sat idle for an impressive 17 years, awaiting an uncertain future. Its owner refused to sell it, even with the vehicle parked outside his home, accumulating dust and being forgotten by the routine.

It was then that Puerto Rican YouTuber Leonardo Junel came into play. In July 2020, he shared the first video of the incredible mission to restore this machine. The series of videos became a hit, drawing car fans and curious onlookers to follow each stage of a transformation that rescued not only the appearance but also the essence of the car.

The restoration was meticulous. The original paint, the iconic “Rosso Corsa”, was restored after hours of sanding and preparation. The interior was disassembled, with parts ordered to ensure that every detail was impeccable. Crucial items such as the timing belt, water pump, and tires were replaced, all to ensure the safety and performance of a true Ferrari.

Today, the Testarossa is back on the streets, a true reborn masterpiece, reminding us of the value of rescuing and preserving historical pieces.

Realmente era uma carreira GT. Luiiis, não precisa acreditar em mim, pode checar e você vai ver! Que o Bryan descanse em paz. É uma pena pois um carro como este sem controle é complicado.
