On December 27, Unigel signed a four-year contract for the delivery of natural gas volumes in a firm mode with Petrobras to supply the fertilizer plants. Additionally, on December 10, the company signed a contract for the delivery of natural gas volumes with a duration of two years, securing the purchase and sale with Shell Energy do Brasil Gás.

The contracts will take effect starting January 1, 2022, and aim to supply the nitrogen fertilizer plants in Bahia and Sergipe, which were reopened by Unigel in 2021 and are operating at full capacity. These contracts are essential to ensure that the fertilizer plants operate at their full capabilities.

“For Petrobras, the choice of Unigel renews the partnership between the companies, as Petrobras offers solutions to compose the customer gas supply portfolio in the free market,” said Petrobras’ Director of Refining and Natural Gas, Mr. Rodrigo Costa.

The two units in Laranjeiras and Camaçari have a combined production capacity of 1.125 million tons/year of urea, 925 thousand tons/year of ammonia, 320 thousand tons/year of ammonium sulfate, and 220 thousand tons/year of ARLA.
