An Omni Táxi Aéreo helicopter, based in Macaé, that was conducting an exercise about 45 kilometers off the coast, near the city of Rio de Janeiro, collided with a marine unit leased by Petrobras, in the Santos Basin. The accident occurred last Wednesday (02/06) and left five people injured. The information comes from Sindpetro NF and individuals close to the incident.

The incident was only reported last night (03/06). According to reports, three crew members of the aircraft were injured. Two others, who work on the platform, suffered minor abrasions.
So far, there is no information on the causes of the accident, but preliminary information suggests that the helicopter collided with platform structures while approaching for landing.

According to the photos, the aircraft involved, registration PR-OTF (man 41573), is one of the newest in the Omni Táxi Aéreo fleet, having entered operations on May 21, 2021.

In a statement, the company informs: “Dear employee, we have received notification that one of our company’s aircraft was involved in an accident a short while ago at 7:35 PM.”
“The accident occurred during a night training exercise, the causes of which are still unknown, and the OTF aircraft, model AW139, is on the helideck of the platform. We have information that three crew members were on board and were taken to the unit’s infirmary and are doing well.”
“We immediately activated our Emergency Response Plan and, as soon as we gather more information, we will share it. We are available for any clarifications.”
Sindipetro Expresses Solidarity and Monitors Investigation of Helicopter Accident on the SS-75
Sindipetro-NF is monitoring the developments of the helicopter accident on the SS-75, in the Búzios field, on the night of last Wednesday. The entity does not formally represent the oil workers of the unit, which is located in the Santos Basin, but expresses its concern and stands in solidarity in attention to flight safety.
The coordinator of the Health Department of the union, Alexandre Vieira, explained that, although the entity does not have a specific action in this case, it will monitor the investigation of the accident’s causes, which will be coordinated by Cenipa (Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents).
The union representative also emphasized that the accident occurred during “a training session for aeromedical rescue, which is important and necessary.”
According to information received by the union in WhatsApp groups of the oil category, the accident occurred at 7:35 PM, involving a helicopter operated by Omni used in a night landing training. The aircraft collided with the helideck of the unit, leading to its overturning. The crew was able to exit the helicopter on their own.

Description: During night flight training, the helicopter collided with the helideck of the SS-75 Unit, leading to its overturn without fire, just smoke, which was extinguished by the unit’s brigade using foam. The crew was able to evacuate the helicopter on their own with minor abrasions (Class 1). The helicopter is located off the helideck, between the accommodation block and the riser bay.
