The Goal of the New Investment in Ceará Is to Produce 378,140 Tons of Green Hydrogen Per Year
Ceará, more specifically the city of Caucaia, is preparing for the innovative construction of a new green hydrogen plant at the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex. The project is being led by Casa dos Ventos Renewable Energies and has received an initial investment of US$ 900 million. According to Portal Solar, the plant will have an installed capacity of 2.4 GW of electrolysis and aims to produce 378,140 tons of green hydrogen per year. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025, with operations slated for 2027.
Green Hydrogen Plant at PECÉM in Ceará
The goal of the investment in Ceará is to boost renewable energy generation and promote sustainable development in the region. In the first phase of the project, the plant will have the capacity to produce 100,000 tons per year of green ammonia. This will be possible thanks to a renewable generation of 140 MWm, coming from solar and wind energy sources. This production of green ammonia will contribute to the industrialization and development supply chain in Caucaia, Ceará, boosting the local economy and generating jobs and income. The investment will be an important milestone for promoting sustainable renewable energy in the city.
Sustainable Development and Jobs Generated by the Investment
The mayor of Caucaia (Ceará), Vitor Valim, emphasizes the importance of the green hydrogen plant’s installation for the sustainable development of the municipality. In addition to boosting renewable energy generation, the project represents the beginning of new investments and brings with it a large industrialization supply chain. The plant will not only promote the transition to cleaner energy sources but also contribute to the economic growth of the region, generating jobs and increasing the income of the local population.
