Solar Power Plant, Complexo Sol do Sertão, Promises to Generate About 4 Thousand New Jobs for the State of Bahia and Will Have 1,075,200 Solar Panels
In the city of Oliveira dos Brejinhos, in Bahia, the installation of the Complexo Sol do Sertão, which will consist of 8 solar power plants, promises to generate around 4 thousand direct and indirect jobs throughout its construction. The solar power plant will have a capacity of 474 MWp and will have more than a million solar panels.

A study reveals the expansion of renewable energy procurement in Brazil and shows how companies are taking advantage of opportunities to reduce expenses, ensure energy efficiency, and strengthen strategic environmental commitments.
He states that the solar power plant will be a significant incentive and development for Bahia, especially in generating new job opportunities.
To implement the plant, 1,075,200 bifacial solar panels from LONGi and 122 Sungrow SG3125HV-20 inverters will be used. The solar power plant in Bahia will be connected to the National Interconnected System (SIN) at 500 kV. The works began in April last year (2020) and are being executed by SETA Engenharia.
The Great Solar Radiation of the Bahia Region
A unique characteristic of the project, which promises to generate more than 4 thousand new jobs, is the thermal sensation of the location where the 8 solar plants will be installed, which can reach temperatures above 40°C.
According to clarification from the engineering director of Sungrow, Ricardo Alonso, the inverters that will be supplied by the company for the solar panel complex in Bahia can produce the same energy at elevated temperatures due to their cooling technology.
According to him, the inverters can operate in high temperature conditions without losing performance and producing the same energy at elevated temperatures, such as 45°C.
The Promising Future of Bahia in the Renewable Energy Market
The hopeful scenario, especially in Bahia, has been leading in solar and wind energy generation for two years. Of all solar energy generated in the country, about 32% is produced in Bahia. Following closely are Minas Gerais (21%), Piauí (15%), São Paulo (11%), and Ceará (8%).
The most exciting announcement in Bahia was the installation of the second largest hybrid park in the country, the Complexo Alfazema, which will be located between the cities of Barra do Estiva and Ibicoara. The idea is for this solar energy complex to generate about 11 thousand jobs, both directly and indirectly.

Atlas Renewable Energy will invest US$ 150 million in the solar power plant Lar do Sol – Casablanca, which aims to reduce about 50 thousand tons of CO2 per year. The company also states that it will contribute to the community by providing training for women in the MG community.
The estimated output of the solar power plant in MG is around 805 GWh per year. So far, this power purchase agreementis the largest involving investments in solar energy for providing sustainable energy to a private consumer in the country.
First Electric Car in the World with Solar Energy Recharging Capability to Be Launched in 2024
For the Dutch startup Lightyear, having an electric car that recharges its battery solely using solar energy is not the future; it is now! The company intends to accelerate the project of the first electric car recharged by solar energy and has committed to starting production for sale by mid-2024.
Lex Hoefsloot, CEO of Lightyear, stated in an interview that the company has plans not only for mass production of the Lightyear One but also intends to go further, with a project to develop an entire line of electric cars with batteries recharged by solar energy.
