Details About One of the Largest Investments in Solar Energy
The estimated output of the solar power plant in MG is around 805 GWh per year. So far, this power purchase agreement is the largest involving investments in solar energy for sustainable power supply to a private consumer in the country.
In addition to avoiding the emission of approximately 50 thousand tons of CO2 per year, the new solar power plant will generate enough electricity to power more than 390 thousand homes annually, based on average household consumption.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.

Farmers swapped diesel for solar panels in Pakistan, powered irrigation pumps almost cost-free, expanded rice fields, and now groundwater has become a red alert in the countryside.
The investment in the Lar do Sol Solar Plant – Casablanca is part of Anglo American’s strategy to use 100% sustainable energy in its Brazilian operations by 2022.
Atlas Renewable Energy Working With the Community
Atlas Renewable Energy, with an ambitious social engagement agenda, intends to implement social programs in the local MG community, promoting inclusion and diversity. To achieve this, the company will further expand its program “We All Are Part of the Same Energy” at the solar power plant construction site.
The initiative aims to develop technical skills, train, and generate new knowledge for 200 women residing in the neighboring communities of Minas Gerais. The program also seeks to promote women participating in the training for qualified job opportunities in the construction of the investment Lar do Sol – Casablanca.
Atlas Renewable Energy aims to integrate at least 15% of female representation in its workforce, that is, four times more than the number of women currently working in solar energy projects in MG.
