Details Of The Eldorado Biomass Plant
The plant operates within the Eldorado Brasil pulp mill complex in Três Lagoas, a city located 338 kilometers from the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul. The raw material used in energy production comes from the biomass of trees harvested for pulp manufacturing in the mill.
Since the second half of March, Eldorado Brasil had been conducting tests for project approval and licensing for the commencement of operations under the supervision of environmental and electricity sector authorities.

The biomass plant tests were completed in April, confirming the proper functioning of the turbine, boiler, and other equipment involved in the operation. The project received the Operating License issued by Imasul (Environmental Institute of Mato Grosso do Sul), valid for four years. The document certifies compliance with current environmental legislation, including monitoring of atmospheric emissions, solid waste, and noise.
With The Project, Eldorado Is Now Energy Self-Sufficient
Eldorado Brasil is already energy self-sufficient, as it uses waste from the pulp manufacturing process as an energy source to supply its manufacturing plant. With the new plant, the company will offer 100% clean and sustainable energy to the national electrical system, via ACR (Regulated Contracting Environment), in a contract managed by ONS (National Electric System Operator).
Carlos Monteiro, industrial director of Eldorado Brasil, says that this is an absolutely innovative project capable of promoting renewal in the Brazilian forestry sector, leading to investments and the creation of thousands of jobs across the country. Monteiro also emphasizes that with the activation of the biomass plant in Mato Grosso do Sul, Eldorado Brasil now has a cycle of 100% utilization of the eucalyptus it plants, reiterating its role of excellence in the green economy.
