China Energy will build a wind farm and a solar plant, both in Rio Grande do Norte
Chinese company, China Energy announced this Monday that one of its units closed two contracts to build a solar plant and wind farm on Brazilian soil, both projects will be implemented in Rio Grande do Norte.

The deal involves a 231 MW wind farm and a 638 MW photovoltaic (PV) solar plant, both to be built in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The two engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts were secured by China Gezhouba Group International Engineering Co Ltd.
According to a notice sent to the Hong Kong stock exchange regulator, state-owned china energy will also be responsible for the construction of its associated equipment and related support facilities, including 230 kV lift substations and 230 kV transmission lines.
Renewable energy market in Brazil
Most of the renewable energy generated today in Brazil still comes from large hydroelectric plants, which account for 60,8% of the electrical matrix. But that should change in the coming years, as the installed capacities of wind and solar sources grow, the latter also in projects installed in homes and businesses.
Currently, the largest amount still comes from hydroelectric plants, which dominate the Brazilian electricity matrix. However, each year they lose ground to other sources of clean energy, especially wind and solar.
