The Highway Police Closed the Stretch Between Kilometers 112 and 129 of BR-101 Due to Explosion Risk.
The gas leak from the well installed at kilometer 128 of BR-101, in São Miguel dos Campos, Alagoas, was controlled on the morning of this Monday, 8. According to Petrobras, the company’s emergency response teams acted to close the well, restoring normal operation in the area. The petrochemical company also stated that the regulatory agencies were notified.
The Federal Highway Police closed, on the afternoon of this Sunday, 07, a stretch of the BR-101 highway in Alagoas, due to a gas leak from one of Petrobras’s extraction wells.

Petrobras stated that the equipment to solve the problem would arrive by the end of the afternoon on Sunday. The problem was resolved on this Monday, July 9.

Emergency response teams were immediately activated, and the area was proactively isolated. There are no casualties, and the regulatory agencies were notified.
According to technicians from the company responsible for the equipment, the leak occurred due to a valve malfunction. The PRF reported that there was a risk of explosion, which is why the highway was closed.
