The Volkswagen Amarok 2025 arrives with a 6 hp V258 engine, 8-speed automatic transmission and impressive load capacity

Launched in 2010, the Volkswagen Amarok has already been on the road for over 14 years. The new 2025 Amarok line brings some updates. brand decided to maintain the suggested prices for the Comfortline, Highline and Extreme versions. Another highlight is that the truck now has an extended five-year warranty.

A new look for the classic Amarok

Imagine waking up, looking in the mirror and realizing it's time for a change. That's exactly what the Amarok did. For 2025, the pickup truck asked for a "facial harmonization". And, in the package, it got new headlights, a bumper with triangular fog lights inspired by the Nivus, and an illuminated grille similar to the Taos. The darkened taillights and the new emblems on the rear are also part of the package.

Inside, the steering wheel has been updated and the multimedia center has received a slight modernization – although I still need the famous cable to connect the cell phone to the system. For many, this update may seem subtle, but it is enough to keep an Amarok in the club of respected veterans, such as the Toyota Hilux and the Chevrolet S10.

The power of the V6 engine

In a world where more and more pickup trucks are adopting smaller and more economical engines, Volkswagen has come up with a bold strategy: it has equipped the Amarok exclusively with the 3.0 V6 engine. This is a move aimed at a specific audience, willing to invest around R$313.990 in the entry-level Comfortline version.

Compared to its competitors, the Amarok stands out for its power. While the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger and Chevrolet S10 focus on four-cylinder engines, the Amarok delivers 258 hp of power and 59,1 kgfm of torque. In terms of drivability, this means quick responses and a built-in roar from the turbodiesel engine – an experience that wins over drivers who value performance.

What about performance on land?

If your idea of fun includes dirt roads and challenging trails, the Amarok is ready to keep up. All versions come with 4Motion traction, allowing automatic adjustments or 50/50 distribution between the axles. In addition, the system offers differential lock, ensuring safety and control, especially on uneven terrain.

The Amarok's robustness is also evident in its dimensions. Measuring 5,35 m long, 1,95 m wide and 1,85 m high, the pickup truck is capable of carrying up to 1.105 kg and towing up to 2,7 tons. In short, it is a work vehicle that is not intimidating, although its features also make it pleasant for everyday use.

Driving for Amarok Highline

The Amarok can be a real pleasure for the driver – but the same is not always true for the passengers. The firmer suspension transmits imperfections in the road, which can be a nuisance on long journeys.

Additionally, the pickup truck does not have a wireless charger, something that many competitors already offer. There is a USB Type-A port in the front and two Type-C ports in the back, but this may be an inconvenience for those who want to charge more modern devices.

Rear space is also lacking, especially for families. If you're taking the kids to school, for example, you might find yourself in a dilemma. Putting backpacks in the back means having to retrieve them from the back later, while sharing the seat with luggage reduces legroom.

Is it worth investing in the Volkswagen Amarok?

It is still possible to say that the Volkswagen Amarok still has its value. It is ideal for those who are already fans of the brand, appreciate good performance and are willing to sacrifice some aspects of comfort in exchange for power and robustness.

Sure, the Amarok isn't a brand new pickup anymore, but with its V6 engine, updated looks and cargo capacity, it remains relevant.

But if your focus is more on comfort and cutting-edge technology, the Ford Ranger V6 may be a competitor that deserves your attention. After all, with prices starting at R$289.990 and a 10-speed gearbox, it offers a driving experience that can be tempting.

Ultimately, the choice is yours. And since any purchasing decision is important, it’s worth taking a test drive and evaluating which one best fits your lifestyle.
