Electric SUV Confirmed For Brazil In 2026 Bets On 800-Volt Architecture, Advanced Semi-Automous Driving, Embedded Supercomputer And Unique Technology To Compete For Global Leadership In The Premium Segment

Revealed globally this Wednesday (21), the new Volvo EX60 is born with a clear ambition: to redefine the concept of automotive intelligence in the premium electric SUV segment. Confirmed for Brazil by the end of 2026, the model will occupy a price range close to R$ 700 thousand, positioning itself between the XC60 and the XC90.

The information was initially disclosed by Autoesporte, which had already anticipated the Brazilian launch in August 2025. Since then, expectations have only grown. And not by chance.

In addition to its robust size and refined appearance, the EX60 debuts a new technological generation from the Swedish brand, combining high autonomy, ultra-fast charging, and an artificial intelligence system capable of interacting with the driver and interpreting the surrounding environment in real-time.

Powertrain, Performance, And Next-Generation Architecture

In Europe, the Volvo EX60 was presented with three mechanical configurations, all 100% electric. The entry version, called P6, features a rear motor with 374 hp and 48.9 kgfm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. Just above it is the P10 AWD, with two motors and all-wheel drive, delivering 510 hp, 72.4 kgfm, and acceleration of 4.6 seconds.

At the top of the range is the P12 AWD. This version impresses with 680 hp, 80.6 kgfm, and a time of 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. This performance places the SUV in the territory of high-level sports cars.

Despite the three global options, Volvo plans to bring to Brazil only the P10 AWD version by the end of 2026, and the P12 AWD in mid-2027. Production will start in Gothenburg, Sweden, reinforcing the global nature of the project.

Additionally, the EX60 debuts the new modular platform SPA3, which evolves significantly from the SPA2 used in the EX90. As a result, the model offers more energy efficiency, greater autonomy, and less structural weight, despite being more technological.

Familiar Design, But With Strategic Refinements

Visually, the EX60 maintains Volvo’s Scandinavian identity. The front features pixelated LED headlights with the classic “Thor’s Hammer” signature, while the rear opts for thinner and straighter vertical taillights.

Although the design does not represent a radical break, the details show evolution. The SUV measures 4.80 meters in length, 2.97 m in wheelbase, 1.90 m in width, and 1.64 m in height. Compared to the XC60, it is longer, lower, and offers more internal space.

The suspension is independent on both axles. In the more expensive versions, there are semi-active dampers and air suspension. The brakes are ventilated discs on all four wheels, reinforcing the focus on safety and performance.

The Brain Of The Smartest Car In The World

It is inside that the Volvo EX60 truly changes the game. The highlight is not just the minimalist finish or the new horizontal multimedia center. The big differentiator is the computational system HuginCore.

This “superbrain” combines chips from Qualcomm, through the Snapdragon Cockpit platform, with the NVidia Drive system from NVIDIA. Together, they allow the car to perform 250 billion operations per second.

This processing power enables level 2.5 semi-autonomous driving, in addition to controlling the entire entertainment and safety system. The embedded artificial intelligence is Gemini, provided by Google, something unprecedented in production vehicles.

As a result, the EX60 can find and respond to emails, understand contextual commands, and, in the future, map and interpret the surrounding environment using its cameras. All of this with constant updates via OTA, directly from the cloud.

Autonomy, Charging, And Energy Efficiency

Another decisive point is autonomy. In the P12 AWD version, the EX60 brings a 117 kWh battery, ensuring up to 810 km of range in the European WLTP cycle. Thanks to the 800-volt architecture, the SUV supports ultra-fast charging of up to 400 kW.

In practice, this allows for recovering 340 km of autonomy in just 10 minutes or charging from 10% to 80% in 19 minutes. The P10 AWD version, on the other hand, features 95 kWh and a similar fast charging time. Charging on alternating current reaches 22 kW, with times between 4 and 6 hours depending on the version.

Active Safety And Premium Comfort

The safety package is extensive. The adaptive cruise control works up to 130 km/h, making long curves without constant driver intervention. The autonomous braking system detects objects crossing transversely. There are also adaptive seatbelts for all occupants.

For comfort, the EX60 features air conditioning with a purifier capable of eliminating 99% of viruses and bacteria, a panoramic sunroof with opacity control, and a premium sound system with 28 speakers, including in the front headrests.

A New Standard For Electric SUVs

According to executives from Volvo, the EX60 is expected to become the best-selling electric car of the brand in Brazil, even surpassing the EX30. The expectation is also that it will assume, in the long term, the position of global best-seller, currently held by the XC60.

With advanced technology, high performance, and integrated artificial intelligence, the Volvo EX60 not only keeps pace with the evolution of electric vehicles — it aims to lead it.

Do you believe that artificial intelligence will become the main decision factor in purchasing an electric car in the coming years?
