Swedish Manufacturer Decides To Install A Network Of Chargers For Electric Cars In Brazil. Volvo Ensures Easy Access To Rapid Charging Points And Plans To Expand This Network Across The Country
Volvo announced last Wednesday, the 15th, that it will install about 13 rapid electric chargers for electric cars on highways in Brazil. According to Volvo’s plan, the rapid charging stations will initially be installed on specific routes connecting the city of São Paulo to other cities and capitals, such as Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, and Curitiba.

Each charger will have 150 kw and will be accompanied by two plugs of type CCS2, meaning two electric cars can be charged simultaneously for an average time of 35 minutes.
The power of the chargers is sufficient to recharge up to 80% of the batteries, and any car with the same plug standard can use the charger.
Phases Of The Swedish Manufacturer’s Project
According to Volvo executives, there will be five phases for the deployment of electric car chargers, and this is only the first phase. Volvo’s commitment to installing rapid charging points is part of the company’s electrification project for mobility in Brazil.
In this first phase alone, the investment will be around R$10 million. The installation of the electric car chargers is expected to happen between March and April 2022.
According to the director of Marketing at Volvo in Brazil, Rafael Ugo, this project aims to eliminate any gaps or doubts people have regarding the charging of electric cars. Volvo’s announcement was made at an event commonly held in São Paulo and broadcast live on the internet.
Electric Car Charging Points Are Part Of A Global Marketing Strategy, According To Volvo
According to João Henrique Garbin de Oliveira, General Director of Operations and Innovation at Volvo Car Brazil, the Swedish manufacturer decided that there would not be a separate plan for Brazil, as Volvo believes that the path they are currently charting is the right one.
The executive further stated that this path was decided on a global level, even though things may be different in Brazil; however, the idea is for Volvo’s product line to be the same for all countries where the brand operates. João Henrique was questioned about issues of repression or ‘lobby’, considering the scenario being organized in Brazil, but the executive stated that it is difficult to say whether there is or not an “anti-electric” organization, but that it is natural for manufacturers to have advanced technology and competitors or repressors wanting to sabotage them.
The General Director of Operations and Innovation at Volvo in Brazil concluded his remarks by stating that the manufacturer hopes to count on society and that their focus now is to accelerate the process of installing electric car charging networks in Brazil.
