With nearly 84% of its sales in retail, the Hyundai Creta solidified its prominent position. There were 4,976 units sold directly to the end consumer and 5,953 total registrations, numbers that reaffirm the SUV’s appeal to Brazilians.
Right behind, the VW Polo secured second place with 4,542 units sold, followed by the Toyota Corolla Cross (4,122) and the Chevrolet Onix (4,026). The big news came from the VW Tera, which claimed 5th place with 3,916 units, marking its debut in the national top 10.

Furthermore, the balance between design and performance has attracted new consumers and boosted sales in the compact SUV segment.
Sales Ranking Shows Changes in Consumer Behavior
The ranking of best-selling cars in September reveals an interesting movement in Brazilian consumer behavior.
Models with a greater presence in retail, meaning purchased directly by individuals, continue to gain ground against direct sales to fleets and rental companies.
The Caoa Chery Tiggo 7, for example, had 93.69% of its sales in retail, showing strong appeal among individual buyers.
On the other hand, the Fiat Argo and the Hyundai HB20 had over 60% of units sold through direct billing, reflecting a greater dependence on corporate sales.
Another highlight was the BYD Dolphin Mini, the best-selling electric car of the month, with 3,067 units and over 90% directed to the end consumer — an indicator of the advancement of electric mobility in Brazil.
Fiat Dominates Among Light Commercials and Ford Ranger Surpasses Hilux
In the light commercial segment, Fiat maintained its dominance with a powerful double: Strada (3,785 units) and Toro (2,237) led the sales ranking.
The Ford Ranger secured third place, surpassing the Toyota Hilux, with 2,160 units, over 69% of which were in retail.
Mitsubishi Triton, on the other hand, made a splash by reaching the top 5 with 791 vehicles sold, surpassing competitors like Chevrolet Montana (498) and S10 (436).
These results reinforce the dominance of medium and compact pickups, which remain the preferred choice for those seeking robustness and versatility for daily or professional use.
Trends and Perspectives for the Coming Months
With the advance of models like the VW Tera and the strengthening of the Creta, the Brazilian automotive market shows signs of renewal and diversification. The preference for SUVs continues to be high, driven by factors such as comfort, connectivity, and design.
Meanwhile, competition among brands is expected to intensify in the last quarter of the year, especially with new versions and launches planned for the end of 2025.
The scenario in September shows that the Brazilian consumer is increasingly attentive to innovation, technology, and cost-effectiveness, and the performance of the Creta and VW Tera is proof of this.
